General

  • Family-run site with on-site fishing and a café
  • Steps from the Shropshire Union Canal
  • Adjoining wood for dog walks

If you had thoughts on an ideal setting for a hol betwixt England and Wales, Hadley Park might be it. It's set in the Shropshire countryside on the border with Wales, next to the Shropshire Union Canal, and a handsomely scenic walk from Whitchurch, Shropshire's oldest market town. A wood adjoins the site for dog walks and evening ambles.

Hadley Park is a new and developing site, family-owned and run, and for adults only. It has a small pond where guests can fish – for free – and an on-site café, along with a launderette and washing-up facilities; there's also a modern well-kept toilet and shower block, and a chemical disposal point.

The park is adults only and welcomes well-behaved dogs. A service station with fast food and coffee outlet is 400 yards away.

Please note

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

This is an adults-only site. Children under the age of 21 are not allowed on site.

Group bookings of 10 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

Quietness, shower block, large enough pitches

    Disliked:

10amp elec would be better at 16amp, you could have everything running at once but if you wanted to boil the kettle you had to turn everything off

From the manager...

We have an electrician sorting out this issue, many appologies for this. New site teething problems! ☺

Developing site with clean facilities and level pitches. 25/10/2016

  • Liked:

The site is approximately 2 miles from the centre of Whitchurch, with plenty of eateries and take always. It is a flat site with Newley constructed shower and toilet facilities. Situated next to the Shropshire Union canal offers pleasant dog/walking. There is a small pool for fishing and a pleasant grassed pick nick area. The pitches are fully serviced with electrical/water/waste water hook up.

    Disliked:

Without being to critical the site is pleasant but a little characterless. The electrical/water/waste water connections where located on the wrong side of the pitches requiring maximum length and extension to the caravan cables/hoses/pipes. The electric supply was 10 amps but it seemed to trip out at much lower ampage. 1500W kettle and some lighting tripped the system! We never saw anyone connected with the site hence the low customer service score. The alfresco cafe was basically a plastic corrugated construction, however we didn't try it because never seemed to be open.
Would I stay here again? May be in the summer months and if it was cheaper.

From the manager...

Thank you for your review. We are installing a new building for the cafe soon as we are aware that the current set up is temporary. It has a 5* hygiene rating, excellent food and staff. The electric problem has now been fixed.

Local attractions

Staying close to home from Hadley Caravan Park, the old Shropshire town of Whitchurch is less than a mile away, and the walks of the Sandstone Trail as well as the hacks of the Bishop Bennet Way are easily accessible via the Shropshire and Union Canal on site.

Elsewhere, several famed Shropshire and Cheshire sights are within 20 miles of the park, like Chester Cathedral and the city's Roman ruins and amphitheatre; Chester Zoo and Chester Racecourse; the fab follies of Hawkestone Park, and the llamas, alpacas and 50 acres of greenery of Cholmondeley Castle Gardens.

Nearby Shrewsbury is famed for its annual flower show and for its Darwin Trail commemorating the life and work of evolution dude Charles Darwin who was born in the town. More modernly, a good range of plays are held at the new Severn Theatre and several riverside pubs and restaurants are around at which to while the night away.

The bars, cafés and independent shops of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Llangollen are within driving distance: other top town picks are a picnic in Riverside Park, a stroll along Victoria Promenade, and a steam straight ahead on the Llangollen Railway.
