Welcome to Hadley Park

General

  • Family-run site with on-site fishing and a café
  • Steps from the Shropshire Union Canal
  • Adults only and dog friendly: woodland for dog walks

If you had thoughts on an ideal setting for a hol between England and Wales, Hadley Park might be it. It's set in the Shropshire countryside on the border with Wales, next to the Shropshire Union Canal, and a handsomely scenic walk from Whitchurch, Shropshire's oldest market town. A wood is on the site land for dog walks and evening ambles.

Hadley Park is a new and developing site, family-owned and run, and for adults only. It has a small pond where guests can fish – for free; a big sundeck overlooking the pond, and an on-site café newly built in 2018, serving fresh local produce. Art courses in a new studio are also offered on site, with workshops including acrylics and oils for beginners as well as printmaking such as etching and mono printing, and you can also have your hair and nails smartened up in the Hadley Park salon: just enquire when booking using the details in your booking confirmation email.

Amenities include a launderette and a washing-up area; there's also a chemical disposal point, and a modern well-kept toilet and shower block with disabled facilities.

The park is adults only and welcomes well-behaved dogs. A service station with fast food and coffee outlet is 400 yards away.

Please note

Group bookings of 10 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

didn't get to see a lot of the site because the weather was awfull.
The pitches are roomy and flat
The showers and toilets were clean and warm with plenty of room in the showers

    Disliked:

The drive into the site could do with the pot-holes filling in
The showers would benefit from a small stool inside

The site was much smaller than we thought. But we did like the fact that as a home base, there were quite a few places we could travel to. we also liked that the caravans were adequately spaced out.The on site cafe served a lovely full english breakfast, which my husband really enjoyed. The toilet block was clean, and looked quite new.for dog lovers, there is a canal walk, but as it was january when we visited,it was quite muddy, but would be lovely in the summer months.
A basic site, but would visit again, more than likely in nicer weather.

Enjoyable spot, good pitch with nice outlook over the fishing pond and very easy access of the road. Superb shower block. Great walks along the canal tow path and within easy reach of Whitchurch both by car or on foot. Has the additional benefit of a Cafe on site.

We had a large pitch which was fully serviced. The site is right next to the canal and from there you can walk into Whitchurch. The site is still being developed but the amenities are excellent. Lovely showers, very clean. The only negative I had was they are actually wet rooms with nowhere to put your clothes. It was hard to get dressed standing in water. Maybe the owners could provide a stool or more hooks on the doors. Apart from that we thoroughly enjoyed our short stay over New Year, and will certainly be returning.

Local attractions

Staying close to home from Hadley Caravan Park, the old Shropshire town of Whitchurch is less than a mile away, and the walks of the Sandstone Trail as well as the hacks of the Bishop Bennet Way are easily accessible via the Shropshire and Union Canal on site.

Elsewhere, several famed Shropshire and Cheshire sights are within 20 miles of the park, like Chester Cathedral and the city's Roman ruins and amphitheatre; Chester Zoo and Chester Racecourse; the fab follies of Hawkestone Park, and the llamas, alpacas and 50 acres of greenery of Cholmondeley Castle Gardens.

Nearby Shrewsbury is famed for its annual flower show and for its Darwin Trail commemorating the life and work of evolution dude Charles Darwin who was born in the town. More modernly, a good range of plays are held at the new Severn Theatre and several riverside pubs and restaurants are around at which to while the night away.

The bars, cafés and independent shops of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Llangollen are within driving distance: other top town picks are a picnic in Riverside Park, a stroll along Victoria Promenade, and a steam straight ahead on the Llangollen Railway.
