Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch (XL)

Liked: We had a fantastic stay at the campsite and were really impressed with the facilities and overall experience. The pizza delivery service was a brilliant touch – hot, fresh, and super convenient after a long day. The indoor washing-up area was clean and practical, especially handy during unpredictable weather. We also appreciated the flat, well-maintained pitches which made setting up camp a breeze. There were plenty of fun activities to keep the kids entertained, which made the trip even more enjoyable for the whole family. We’d definitely recommend this site and look forward to returning!

Electric hardstanding and grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Lovely setting along quiet lanes, no road noise at all. Rose and Philip are amazing hosts, very friendly and the facilities are in excellent order. Even though the site was full on a BH weekend we didn’t have to queue for the showers. There are 3 shower rooms with toilets plus an additional toilet, all well maintained. In the amenity building there is also a washing up sink and a washing machine (£2.50) to use. The recycling facilities are excellent.
Best of all we liked the food menu. This is ordered in advance and delivered to your door - we tried the pizza, chunky chips, homemade ice cream and breakfast sandwiches, all delicious.
We walked to the Bull and Dog pub (2.2 miles) and enjoyed an excellent Sunday roast there. Whixall Marina is also within walking distance and has an excellent cafe with homemade cakes. The local canals and Mosses Nature Reserve offer lots of walking opportunities.
We will definitely return (as we need to try more flavours of ice cream)!

Electric hardstanding and grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Lovely relaxed area. Large pitches with electric . Some hard standing some just grass . Shared site with friends who also loved it. We came back with a new campervan having previously been before with old Mazda Bongo. Toilet rooms spacious and clean . Large field able to walk dogs without leaving site. Very friendly Rose and Phillip came for chat and checked we were happy with position. Which we were. Easy walks along very rural roads .
A really easy and lovely visit for the first short trip in our Wildax Triton

Electric hardstanding and grass touring caravan pitch

Liked: The site was lovely. The toilet/shower block was first class. Quiet, well maintained. Rose is lovely, engaging and helpful.

Disliked: The lanes in and out of the caravan park. Tiny single track roads, no passing places and lots of huge pot holes. Watch out if you’ve a motor mover on your ‘van.

From the manager: Dear Dorothy,
Thank you for your lovely review!
We are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed the peaceful setting, well-maintained site and our facilities. we take great pride in keeping everything to a high standard. It was a pleasure having you stay with us.

We completely understand that the country lanes can be a challenge , especially for those not used to rural driving. While they do add to the charm and tranquility of our location, we always recommend taking it slow and planning arrival times to avoid the busiest periods. we appreciate your feedback and will continue to share any updates on local road conditions with our guests.
we'd love to welcome you back in the future.
safe travels and thank you again for your kind words.
Philip & Rose

Local attractions

Whixall Nature Reserve, a 20-minute drive away, is one of the last few lowland raised bogs left in the British Isles and as such it’s home to a menagerie of birdlife along with some rather prehistoric sights, such as carnivorous sundew, adders (wear your boots) and six-inch water-skating raft spiders. The nearby Meres – lakes and wetlands formed at the end of the Ice Age – are all between 20 and 25 minutes away and make for fine walks and nature spotting: birdwatchers come from all over the country to Wood Lane Nature Reserve, next to Ellesmere, to spot avocets, lapwings and sandpipers. It's around an hour to the Shropshire Hills' Carding Mill Valley for yomps up heather-blanketed slopes, waterfalls and views towards the Black Mountains. Alternatively, report to Llangollen (45 minutes) for rides on the steam railway and down the canal, and it's a similar distance to walk the ‘stream in the sky’, otherwise known as the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. If you’re more into country houses, visit the eccentric tangle of statues, grottoes, bridges and tunnels created by various owners of Hawkstone Park Follies (15 minutes), or wander the 640 acres of country surrounding 18th-century Attingham Park, dotted with Iron Age and Roman ruins, half an hour away.
