Woods by dog walking field

  • Peaceful and friendly site in the Shropshire Hills
  • Walkers' paradise with many strolls and hikes close by
  • Animals to meet on site; eggs and meat available to buy
Bring those boots made for walking, for you'll be hungry for the hikes around Shropshire's Teds Farm Camping. Based in Sheriffhales about four miles from Telford, this peaceful, friendly and popular little site is in land where walks are all around, meandering for miles through the wildlife havens of the green Shropshire countryside. Ted's is a smallholding, with grass pitches on a gently sloping field set among the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Chickens and ducks wander the site – the kids are welcome to say hi or go and meet some of the menagerie at the animal paddock – and free-range eggs and fresh meat are usually available for sale. Among the well-maintained amenities are showers and toilets, chemical disposal points and facilities for charging and recycling. There's easy access from the site to Sheriffhales village, just off the main A5.

Fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

From the manager: Good morning, thank you for your review and photos.
You had a great sunset.
I would like to point out to anyone reading this that the photo of your BBQ is actually a BBQ and not a fire pit, as we do not allow fires at Teds.
Hope your dinner was tasty!
Many thanks,

Electric grass pitch

Liked The staff were friendly and welcoming. Our pitch was spacious and well maintained and the site was not overcrowded with loads of open space for kids to play. Small but well stocked farm shop. Toilets and showers looked really clean and new. My son loved seeing the chickens. Perfect for what we needed, would stop again.

Electric grass pitch

Liked As first time campers we were a little apprehensive about our weekend break but we really needn't have been! We had a wonderful stay at Ted's Farm. It's a fairly small site, but perfect for a couple of nights surrounded by farmland and countryside. Our two children enjoyed playing various games on the field, whilst we were able to relax with them in our sight.
Although small, the toilet block and shower facilities were spotlessly clean and everything in perfect working order.
The farm shop is very well stocked and saved the day when they sold tent pegs! The staff went above and beyond by loaning an electric hookup to us for the weekend.
All in all, we had a brilliant time and will definitely return.

Liked Great welcome from Liz on the gates when we arrived. Good sized pitch and really liked where we was on the field.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Great, quiet location. Site was well kept, toilets and showers were exceptionally clean, the site warden was a lovely welcoming woman. Probably one of the best kept campsites I’ve been to. It’s close to a lot of locations so easy to get places. At night time it’s very relaxing, quiet after 10pm which was great, all round great site.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Site was clean and well looked after, shower block was immaculate and the little shop is great. Fair priced to.

Disliked We was over run with wasps, to be told that when the grass was cut they disturbed a wasps nest. Nothing was done about it. So all weekend we was dealing with alot of them.

Also we had family come to visit for an hour just to have food. They was charged £12 each + £2 for the dog. Considering they bought things out of the shop. I think this charge is outrageous.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks Adam, glad you appreciated the cleanliness of the shower block and the farm shop.

There are wasps around, it's that time of year, but we do not have a wasps nest, not sure who you heard this from it was not a member of staff. Wasps are around the fruit trees and we tried to pick up all the fruit, even as children continued to pick it, we also kept an eye on the bins throughout the weekend to ensure the lids were kept closed.

Regarding the visitors, our charges are £6 adult, £3 child and £2 dog. I can't see that you have been overcharged for the number of visitors that you had, if you would like to contact us directly to discuss we will be happy to sort this out for you if you have been charged incorrectly.

Local attractions

As you'll have brought your sturdy boots, stride out into the Shropshire Hills AONB in any direction for green countryside and wildlife haven walks, or drive in the Telford direction for a woodland wander around Wrekin Forest. Striding around establishments is also a topping option when on holiday in any locale, so check out the craft and antique shops, tearooms and pubs, grocers and butchers of the region's market towns like Ellesmere, Market Drayton, Oswestry, Bishops Castle, Ludlow, Much Wenlock and Bridgnorth. Set in the centre of Shropshire on the River Severn, the Tudor town of Shrewsbury is also well worth a wander, for more shopping (but of course), Shrewsbury Abbey and Shrewsbury Castle, the museum and art gallery, town centre park and – if you're in town in mid-August – the famed Shrewsbury Flower Show. Also around in Shropshire and its surrounds are award-winning museums, lushly green gardens, farms and abbeys, historic houses managed by the National Trust and English Heritage, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Ironbridge Gorge Museums, about 20 minutes' drive from Teds Farm Camping.
