  • Peaceful and friendly site in the Shropshire Hills
  • Walkers' paradise with many strolls and hikes close by
  • Animals to meet on site; eggs and meat available to buy
Bring those boots made for walking, for you'll be hungry for the hikes around Shropshire's Teds Farm Camping. Based in Sheriffhales, about four miles from Telford, this peaceful, friendly and popular little site is in land where walks are all around, meandering for miles through the wildlife havens of the green Shropshire countryside. Ted's is a smallholding, with grass pitches on a gently sloping field looking out over the surrounding Shropshire Hills National Landscape. Chickens and ducks wander the site – the kids are welcome to say hi or go and meet some of the menagerie at the animal paddock – and free-range eggs and fresh meat are usually available for sale. They can also go to play at the park, where there's Ted's Tractor alongside swings, slides, interactive games, climbing walls and bridges. Among the well-maintained amenities are showers and toilets, chemical disposal points and facilities for charging and recycling. There's easy access from the site to Sheriffhales village, just off the main A5.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Bathrooms are very clean, great playground for the kids. Could have a awning and large tent at no extra charge. We had an incredible time and would be happy to return.

Disliked If I had to give a dislike it's that there was goose poo everywhere and we never had an issue with the geese, however another family pitched close to us often where screaming and running away from them.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for the review! The geese have been very bold this summer, they are usually just at the bottom of the field.... something for us to have a think about. Glad they didn't bother you and that you have a great time here, look forward to seeing you again Liz, Dave, Erica and Eliza

FHU gravel and cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Lovely small camp site. Kids loved the park and farm animals roaming round. Also a brilliant little site shop.

Disliked Toilet/shower block small but very clean. I understand planning permitting this will hopefully be enlarged at a later date.

Liked Spent the weekend camping at Ted’s Farm & would definitely recommend. The staff were friendly & welcoming, the site was clean & well maintained & our girls were never off the park. The shop was really well stocked with tasty treats & they made the kids day when they brought round ice creams on a tractor for all the children, such a nice touch. A lovely weekend was had by all.

Disliked Can’t find fault, they told us on check in that they had planning permission to expand the toilet block but we never had a problem.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Lovely review, thank you for taking time to post it.
The kids love the tractor, i think the ice creams are just a bonus.
Glad you all had a good time.

Liked Great campsite and lovely owners. We will definitely return.
Pitches were spacious, great playground, superb shop, lovely atmosphere. Our favourite campsite so far.

Disliked The only negative is the small shower and toilet block but it was still adequate. Fingers crossed they get the planning permission they have applied for and the campsite would be perfect.

Liked Lovely quiet location, very friendly staff

Disliked As noted in the shower block, planning has been applied for to improve the showers. Although small, very clean, but due to how busy the campsite, they need more, hopefully planning is approved.

From the manager: Fingers and toes crossed please!
We are all hoping to get this planning and next year should be the best one yet for Teds!!

FHU gravel and cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Had a great few days, nice site relatively new site and will be very attractive when it matures.

The highlight of our stay were the geese! nice to see some wildlife and they should be respected as such.

It was very busy with family's and it was good to see children being children in the play area and generally running around in safety, The evenings and night-times were quiet.

Great little shop with some quality products.
We will return

Disliked all good

Liked What a fabulous site! Huge pitches and a great play area for the kids. The farm shop was amazing & the staff were so wonderfully helpful. The kids were sad to leave & want to go back again soon (ages 5, 10 & 14). So many amazing places within a 15 minute drive too.

Disliked The showers were a bit of a squeeze but the owners have already mentioned they'll be upgraded once planning is sorted, so no complaints!

Liked The site is very clean and well situated. You can get a fresh coffee from the shop in the morning. In fact, the site shop is very well stocked for it's size.

Disliked It was slightly difficult to get a shower at peak times as there are just two cubicles for the females of the whole site. Lots of little children needed long, supervised showers.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review.
We are pleased you like our little shop.
With regards to the shower comment please see below

We are hoping to add a new shower block before next season starts complete with a laundry, a much better wash-up room, and far superior toilet and shower facitities.
Planning permission has been submitted we are just waiting on the approval. Fingers crossed
Please come and see us again to check them out.

Local attractions

As you'll have brought your sturdy boots, stride out into the Shropshire Hills National Landscape in any direction for green countryside and wildlife haven walks, or drive in the Telford direction for a woodland wander around Wrekin Forest. Striding around establishments is also a topping option when on holiday in any locale, so check out the craft and antique shops, tearooms and pubs, grocers and butchers of the region's market towns like Ellesmere, Market Drayton, Oswestry, Bishops Castle, Ludlow, Much Wenlock and Bridgnorth. Set in the centre of Shropshire on the River Severn, the Tudor town of Shrewsbury is also well worth a wander, for more shopping (but of course), Shrewsbury Abbey and Shrewsbury Castle, the museum and art gallery, town centre park and – if you're in town in mid-August – the famed Shrewsbury Flower Show. Also around in Shropshire and its surrounds are award-winning museums, lushly green gardens, farms and abbeys, historic houses managed by the National Trust and English Heritage, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Ironbridge Gorge Museums, about 20 minutes' drive from Teds Farm Camping.
