Non-electric grass and earth tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Great views, family friendly, big pitches, clean toilets, plenty of bins for rubbish.

Disliked: Can be windy as not much shelter, having said that we have a roof top tent.

Non-electric grass and earth tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Great campsite, just a plan flat field but with great views. Vast amount of space and never over booked. One night for me this time and the weather forecast wasn't great so I didn't book a fire pit. Still had a lovely chilled evening watching the kites catching thermals, looking for scraps to eat. Not far from a busy road but amazingly you can't hear the traffic. This was my 3rd visit & won't be my last.

Disliked: Nothing

Non-electric grass and earth tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Beautiful rolling hills surround the lovely flat camping field. This was my 2nd visit to this site. It's incredibly quiet, perfect place to get away from everything. The pitches are a generous size and numbers limited so not over crowded. Book in by text on arrival and then just pick an area to pitch up. 8-10 toilets and 4 cold water showers, all kept immaculately clean. Fire kits are available while booking and highly recommend by me. If you stay more than 1 night you can get a refill at a slight discount. The Ridgeway path runs adjacent to the site so if you are into walking or cycling its a great place to stay. They have fresh water points on site, a washing up station, rubbish bins and recycling bins too

Disliked: I really like this site and intend staying here again when possible. The only slight draw back I can see are the cold water showers.

Non-electric grass and earth tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Views, space, peace. Lovely, well maintained site with one huge field. Very basic with portaloos, which were pretty good for that type of thing. Always had paper and soap. Showers are cold though, so be warned! Lovely walk into town and lots of pubs and cafes to explore, as well as sweet independent shops and a Waitrose! The views were lovely. And the sky is endless! This is a perfect place to go for a chilled weekend, or last minute getaway.

Local attractions

On a summer’s evening, there’s nothing quite like messing about on the river – hire a boat nearby at Wallingford Bridge or Benson Waterfront (both five minutes' drive). Sipping a glass of wine comes a close second, so Brightwell Vineyard (10 minutes) could be a good shout too. For wildlife enthusiasts, Cholsey Marsh Nature Reserve is 10 minutes away by car or a pleasant hour’s walk taking in the Thames Path along the river. And children (and quite possibly grownups) are bound to love a visit to Island Farm Donkey Sanctuary (15 minutes’ drive). To get the blood pumping, you could brave the local skydiving (five minutes) and watersports (15 minutes) centres.
