What customers say
This "back to basics" campsite is praised for its spacious, level pitches, stunning countryside views, and peaceful atmosphere. Visitors highlight the cleanliness of the portaloos and appreciate the freedom to choose their own pitch. Direct access to the Ridgeway path is a significant draw for walkers. While facilities are basic, including cold showers, many find this adds to the charm. The site is generally well-managed, with responsive communication. Some guests note potential for noise from other campers or nearby roads, and the exposed nature of the field means it can be windy.

Relaxed Campsite
Non-electric grass and earth campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked This is a great campsite, very chilled and relaxed, loads of space, great views, friendly staff, loads of toilets which were very clean. We walked into Wallingford through footpaths and the Thames path which was beautiful. This is the second time we've camped here and we will definitely be back again.

Well kept, clean and rural site.
Non-electric grass and earth campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Only stayed one night in my campervan but found the site really peaceful and sufficient for my needs. I liked being able to choose where to pitch and the vast size of the site meant that I was far away from everyone else. I could imagine that it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea as it’s very basic with very clean portaloos and cold showers. Lovely views to wake up to and it’s very flat too! I will definitely go back, to me it’s proper camping!
Disliked Not booking for more than one night!!

Non-electric grass and earth campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Quiet. Beautiful sunset. Basic snd peaceful. Plenty of bins. Plenty of toilets
Disliked No pushchair walks from site but there were plenty of walks if you didn't need a pushchair. Toilets could have done with a bit of a scrub

Very relaxed, quiet and relaxing site.
Non-electric grass and earth campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked The size of the pitches is great and not being restricted to an allocated area means it's easy to pitch multiple tents without being to close to other campers. The toilets may be portaloos but I've never seen cleaner loos on a campsite! Absolutely spotless and odour free. The no noise after 10.30 is very much appreciated.
Disliked Not a fault as such but the site is quite high up and exposed so can be a quite windy. not a problem but good to know in regard to pitching tents. The upside is really good views!

A great, no frills, campsite near to Wallingford for wild swimming
Non-electric grass and earth campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Views, space, feeling of isolation
Disliked Having water nearer some of the portaloos would be nice. Having to walk across the field to wash your hands because there is no antibac liquid in the loo isn't much fun.

Top job - zero issues, just what we needed for the weekend. Thank you.
Non-electric grass and earth campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Set up wherever you wish. Clean loos, a proper tap you can get a water carrier under (annoying when there's just a sink, which there is too if you need it.) Lovely views, well maintained (very flat) grass.
Disliked Another passing place on the road on the way in would be handy - but aware that's not in your control.

From the manager: Thanks Ben, glad you had a good time.
Not much we can do about the passing places, although we do have a 1 way system that we can put in place for when it's really, really busy.

Non-electric grass and earth campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Simple but effective - a big field, with water taps, cold showers, and (relatively clean) portaloos. Can’t really fault it. Wasn’t particularly busy when we stayed, despite it being a bank holiday weekend, which meant it was pretty quiet and tranquil. Nice views.
