  • Dog-friendly Oxfordshire farm site in the village of North Moreton
  • Didcot Railway Centre 10 minutes' drive; 25 minutes to Oxford
  • Large field with level pitches; pub and bus stop five minutes' walk
Quiet rural farm site, or somewhere that you can easily walk to the village pub? Roll both things into one location at St. Peter’s Farm Campsite, surrounded by fabulous Oxfordshire countryside and yet a mere five minutes’ walk from the local pub in the village of North Moreton. That location brings lots of benefits – you’ll get the peaceful experience that comes from staying on a spacious and level field that’s part of a farm with horses and wildlife areas, but you’ll also be able to stroll up to the village for a meal, a drink or some time at the playground with the kids. There are plenty of good routes around for longer walks too, and the site is dog-friendly so your furry pal can join you. Looking to explore further afield? A bus service from the village runs to Didcot, or you can drive there in about 10 minutes. Wallingford is similarly about 10 minutes away, and both towns are handy sources of shops and places to eat. Oxford (25 minutes’ drive) is also easy to visit from here, and there are plenty of attractions around from the Didcot Railway Centre and Aston Martin Heritage Trust to the Iron Age hillfort at Wittenham Clumps. Pitches at this site are fairly simple but have access to ladies’ and gents’ toilets and showers, a chemical disposal point and a washing-up area, and you’ll be allowed to light campfires or barbecues. There’s a separate field that can be used by rallies and groups such as Duke of Edinburgh expeditions.

What customers say

This is a spacious, back-to-basics campsite with a friendly owner. Pitches are large and flat, and campfires are permitted. Facilities, including toilets and showers, are basic but generally clean. Some guests found the distance to facilities a drawback, and the presence of a nearby train line was noted. The site is well-located for local walks and pubs.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked Nothing

Disliked Road through site had very large pot holes, there was no hot water in toilet block and we couldn’t find the fresh water point (no signs). It looked like a caravan and motorhome storage facility to be honest! There were so many units around us, not like the pictures at all. When we returned for out second night, our pitch was taken by someone else. When we queried this, we were told it’s because they had got stuck in the mud (lots because of the weather) and the owner pulled them out. We were told to use another pitch which was very muddy, didn’t have electric and wasn’t level. The owner came to see us but was very dismissive, however, he did apologise and shoved us a refund for both nights as we said we didn’t want to stay the second night under those conditions.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Easy to find and get to. Owner was welcoming.

Disliked Facilities for the price were shocking, if you have ever seen Train Spotting!
Due to weather all was soaked, which can’t be helped.
I would suggest upgrading facilities or £10 per person not £25 for 2 with no option to amend

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked It was very peaceful in February and the facilities were not fancy but perfectly good. Because of flooding I had to pitch by the hard standing so I can’t really speak for the camping field, but very glad to have that option and had a nice quiet sheltered spot. Personally I loved hearing the trains, they’re really not intrusive.

Disliked I was by a lot of vans and motorhomes but I heard very little from them, and I think the field would give a lot more space. Quite expensive for off season.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked Good pubs nearby, one in the village 1/2 mile away, but double check opening days.

Disliked The site is more like a caravan/ campervan storage yard than a campsite, very disappointing for the price.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked I arrived in the dark and left first thing so I didn’t really get to see much. They had had a burst water pipe so John had to put me on a different pitch, and insisted on fully refunding me which was very kind, but unnecessary as all the services were still available. A very welcoming reception, I felt safe and I would go back.
