Local attractions

Hackett Lakes is a great location for a break that mixes up countryside and city – as well as fishing on site and outdoor activities at Holme Pierrepont Country Park you may like to play a round at Radcliffe-on-Trent Golf Club (10 minutes’ drive) or take a vineyard tour at Wolds Wine Estate (20 minutes). There are several grand buildings dotted around too, including Wollaton Hall, Gardens and Deer Park (25 minutes) and Belvoir Castle (half an hour), plus family attractions like Floralands Farm Park (half an hour). Sports fans may also like to see if they can catch some actions at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground or the Trent Bridge Cricket Ground (both 10 minutes). For some city time, board one of the regular bus services to Nottingham to see the castle, the National Justice Museum and Nottingham Industrial Museum. Also don’t miss the chance to go beneath the city’s streets at City of Caves, a surprisingly large network that’s been in use since Anglo-Saxon times.
