Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Very well organised and clean. Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. I booked a single pitch with no hookup, alongside some friends. The facilities were very new and there was no queueing. WIFI was useful but slightly patchy. The access to Sherwood Pines was really close but it still felt like a separate location, which was lovely. Was great to access the park in the evening when it was quiet. Would definitely recommend.

Disliked: My only moan would be that there was no plug socket to allow me to blow up my airbed. I couldn't book electric hookup because there wasnt any available, but often campsites will have a spare plug for this purpose. I am sure if i took my bed to the shop they would have helped. I completely understand why they prefer people to have hook up if available, just a suggestion.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Shoer facilities
Laundry facilities
Cleanliness of site
Friendly staff
Beautiful scenery

Disliked: The rain!!!!
But seriously, the only thing i was not keen on, was the sticky doors into the toilets at the park. It was like kids had put sticky hands on them and not been wiped down.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: The facilities are easily the best we have encountered. Plenty of toilets and showers, all of which are cleaned regularly. The pitches are well spaced and the check in is managed really well with lots of people arriving at the same time so the site doesn’t become overwhelmed with vehicles aimlessly trying to find their pitch.

There’s a few washing machines and dryers at a very reasonable price, so you can pack lightly. Make sure to bring your own wash powder. There’s also a hot drinks vending machine and another with cold drinks and snacks in as well as the shop at the main entrance to the camp site.

The tourist centre where activities like Go Ape and Bicycle hire are is only a slow 10-15 minute walk from the camp site.

There is a coop, pubs and takeaways only a 7 minute drive away, and handily a post office with an Amazon delivery counter for when your airbed has a puncture on the first night.

Disliked: Very little to dislike. If I had to be critical….

The plug in one of the family shower rooms had blocked and flooded the shower room while the 3 of us showered. It did very slowly drain away. I did see the cleaners rectifying this shortly after.

The water pressure on the hot taps in the wash rooms sometimes dropped for a couple of minutes if there was a lot of people using it at the same time.

The WiFi could be temperamental but with lots of people using it, it’s to be expected.

No major issues

Electric grass pitch

Liked: The services were absolutely amazing. All the Team members smile and help you to find the perfect pitch for you (even really undecided customers) when is heavy rain or hot days. The site is organised great for everyone (bickers, kids, families, dogs) and the facilities are spotless.
In the end of our holiday we had trouble with car starts and a member of the Team came with a tractor and jumper cables to help us. They are prepared for any situation. Well done guys, you are doing amazing job ❤️.

Disliked: My holiday was too short 😁

Liked: Pitches spacious enough and not to far from park and shower/toilet blocks. Love that there’s a dog wash on the park too.

Disliked: Not enough toilet blocks dotted about and no plugs in toilets etc for those without electric to do a quick charge

Electric grass pitch

Liked: The site was ran so tightly and efficiently. Staff always happy to help and very knowledgeable.
I liked that you were taken to pitches on arrival and given lots of different options... quiet, sunny, shaded, family area etc. Beautiful site with all the amenities and more.
All toilets and showers clean and kept immaculate.
Pizza van Friday's and chippy van Saturday's.
Bike hire centre very short distance from camp site.
Children's playground closed at dusk. Basically lights out at 10, so everyone kept the noise to a minimum and staff rode around the site to check no fires or wild parties happening.

Disliked: Honestly haven't got anything to moan about, literally the best site we've been to and will definitely be back

Local attractions

Want to explore the forest on two wheels? You won’t need to fret about securing a bicycle rack to your precious car, as Sherwood Pines Cycles (10 minutes’ walk) is right within striking distance. Go Ape Sherwood (10 minutes) is also within walking distance, making it easy to go from lounging on the pitch to gliding down a zipwire and gazing through the leaf canopies. If you’d rather spend your time batting golf balls with gusto, try the Sherwood Forest Golf Club (10 minutes) instead. For one of the area’s most legendary sights, head to The Major Oak (10 minutes’ drive), an ancient tree rumoured to be connected to the legendary Robin Hood. If you still have plenty of energy to expend on some challenging activities, the Adrenalin Jungle Activity Centre (25 minutes) runs activities such as assault courses and paintballing. Finally, should you feel like pausing the activities to take in some important history, The National Holocaust Centre and Museum (20 minutes) is not too far away either.
