Set on the edge of Sherwood Forest, known the world over for its links with the mythical Robin Hood and his Merry Men, Sherwood Pines Campsite is spread across 40 acres of gorgeous ancient woodland. First and foremost, it’s an excellent base for those who have big plans to explore the forest and its numerous hiking and cycling routes; there are paths directly from the pitches that guests can get straight out onto. Second? It’s within walking distance of many of the forest’s main activities, including adventure playgrounds, Go Ape Sherwood, bike hire, shady picnic spots and a schedule of open-air concerts held throughout the year. Plenty of useful amenities are available at Sherwood Pines too, including heated lockers for backpackers, a secure bike station for cyclists, a motorhome service point and a dog wash for four-legged guests. In summer, family activities take place on site. Mobile pizza and fish and chips vans visit most weekends. There is also a fresh coffee machine and a small shop in reception, handy if you need a quick caffeine boost or a snack before a big day out on the trails.

Unpowered grass site

Liked Location is fantastic to get into the Forest Trails and further.
When we arrived 50mins before official check in time started we were warmly welcomed and we were able to get to our pitch (non electric for one night).
Plenty of facilities and kept clean.

Liked We had a fully serviced pitch. Water, waste water and electric. Beautiful area.
Toilets and showers nice and clean. Friday night was pizza night. A pizza van came to the site. Very nice. Saturday morning another food van serving breakfasts, cobs etc also very nice. Plenty of bins around the site with the opportunity to recycle. Plenty of dog waste bins around the site. We found the staff very friendly.

Disliked Fully serviced pitch wasn't very big. Only just got the car and caravan side by side. Speed limit was 5mph. However lots of children and adults riding around the site at speed.

Unpowered grass site

Liked Good sized site amenities were very clean and tidy. Food trucks were there fri/sat and ubereats delivers. Staff were friendly and professional. All in all a nice forest site for exploring Sherwood!

Disliked Not much but it does have a high voltage power line down the middle of the site. Not intrusive but one to note.

Liked We had another fantastic stay (our 3rd time) at Sherwood Pines Campsite. One of the best things was how easy it was to walk straight into the forest, making it perfect for exploring and enjoying nature with our Spaniel.
Even though the campsite was quite busy during our visit, it was never noisy and had a really relaxed atmosphere. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, and the facilities were kept very clean throughout our stay. The showers were excellent too, with plenty of hot water and good pressure.
A great bonus was the chip van on site on saturday night, which was very handy after a day out walking.
Overall, a well-run campsite in a brilliant location. We'd definitely stay again

All facilities well looked after,
We used this as a trial for distent types of camping, the pods are great, the grass pitches next to them are well looked after so you're close together.
Food vans on Friday and Saturday,
Great location to get in to sherwood pines! 10 minute walk (with children!)

Want to explore the forest on two wheels? You won’t need to fret about securing a bicycle rack to your precious car, as Sherwood Pines Cycles (10 minutes’ walk) is right within striking distance. Go Ape Sherwood (10 minutes) is also within walking distance, making it easy to go from lounging on the pitch to gliding down a zipwire and gazing through the leaf canopies. If you’d rather spend your time batting golf balls with gusto, try the Sherwood Forest Golf Club (10 minutes) instead. For one of the area’s most legendary sights, head to The Major Oak (10 minutes’ drive), an ancient tree rumoured to be connected to the legendary Robin Hood. If you still have plenty of energy to expend on some challenging activities, the Adrenalin Jungle Activity Centre (25 minutes) runs activities such as assault courses and paintballing. Finally, should you feel like pausing the activities to take in some important history, The National Holocaust Centre and Museum (20 minutes) is not too far away either.
