General

  • Spacious and grassy site set on the banks of the River Trent
  • Watersports centre and several theme parks a short drive away
  • Riverside walks and bike rides, boat trips and restaurants nearby

Gunthorpe Camping is a small family-friendly site set on a level grassy paddock next to the River Trent. There are several good restaurants within a short stroll, and you can go on riverside walks and bike rides direct from the property.

The grassy paddock is open and surrounded by hedges and mature trees, providing guests with plenty of space to spread out.

Friendly dogs are welcome throughout the year.

Canoeing/kayaking, fishing and boat trips are available nearby on the River Trent, and there are loads more water-based options such as wakeboarding and whitewater tubing, rafting and kayaking a short drive away at the National Watersports Centre.

Really good location on the banks of the river Trent close to restaurants. The camping field is quiet and secure with gated access. The friendly owner came to check I was settled in okay and explain where the loo and water point were.

Good position but too basic for price. 04/09/2017

  • Liked:

The level field and the location near to but not adjacent to the river Trent and its bankside walks. The ease of booking. For short stays its OK.

    Disliked:

    Not being greeted on arrival.
Having no wash basin in the shed/outhouse containing the one toilet for the site.
Having no toilet paper available when visiting the loo.
The cost was way too high for the site with so few even basic hygienic faculties and our experience is that similar costing sites provide far more facilities. We knew the site had no electrics or a shower but we expect a wash basin near to a toilet and also toilet paper to be available.
The pictures on the web site indicate a site that might be bang on the river bank . It isn't and a road is to be crossed to access the river.
The one Waste bin for the field was overflowing on our departure.

Lovely location and felt very secure to allowed our 3 year old to run around. Pitch was tidy and lots of space between pitches.
Didn't get a chance to meet the hosts Antony and Leslie but received a text and phone call with all the information we needed. Would highly recommend.

    Disliked:

    Toilets.

The Local area is beautiful with plenty of places to eat and drink. Good walks and sight seeing.
I had no problem finding my pitch which was clearly marked with my name.
I was greeted by a friendly member of staff shortly after arrival who offererd me a leaflet and guide to the area.
The pitching area is safely enclosed and requires a combination pin to unlock the main gates.

    Disliked:

The site itself is currently very basic.
Only one toilet, no sinks or showers, with just an outside tap for water.
However there are signs that this may change for the better by next season.
