Gunthorpe Camping is a small family-friendly site set on a level grassy paddock next to the River Trent. There are several good restaurants within a short stroll, and you can go on riverside walks and bike rides direct from the property.

The grassy paddock is open and surrounded by hedges and mature trees, providing guests with plenty of space to spread out.

Friendly dogs are welcome throughout the year.

Canoeing/kayaking, fishing and boat trips are available nearby on the River Trent, and there are loads more water-based options such as wakeboarding and whitewater tubing, rafting and kayaking a short drive away at the National Watersports Centre.

First of all, it's not as close to Nottingham as it looks like. It's 45 minutes with the Bus. And there are no busses on sunday there.
You would pay to camp in a backyard. No facilities, no reception, nothing. Don't mind asking the locals how to find this place, they've never heard of it.
I walked around this really really small village where there is nothing to see for an hour in the pouring rain until all my stuff was wet. Finally I got a call back from this guy who sounded very untrustworthy and was calling from a music festival who then gave me the code to get into his garden. Only then I saw that there was a sign about 20x5 cm "big" advertising this place.
After I found out there were no buses on sunday I didn't even sleep there in the end. I hitched to a village with a better busstop where there was a bus on sunday and slept there on a football pitch.
The next day I saw Nottingham, and there really is not much to see there either. And the whole city looks pretty run down.

But I don't even have to bother with asking for a refund, because this guy knows his place is sh*t and doesn't offer any refunds if you don't cancel your booking at least one week beforehand.
Please do not book here. You could just camp right on the bank of the river in the village, nobody would have cared.
If you really, really want get rid of some money: please, just burn the banknotes, it would be a better investment.

From the manager...

Dear Johana, we are sorry you had a bad experience visiting our campsite and your dislike of Nottingham. Most people enjoy the charm of Gunthorpe with its beautiful riverside location, four restaraunts and countryside walks etc. Unfortunately we advertise as everything you've complained about, we are a grassy pitch, we have no services to offer and there is no reception. In future to help other site owners please read the description of the facilities before you book, that way you can spend more time enjoying yourself. Difficult i know if you arrive late, in the dark and it's torrential rain.

Kind regards lesley
