Gunthorpe Camping

Mi è piaciuto: The campsite is in a lovely quiet spot, right by the river Trent and easy to find next to Unicorn Hotel which is good for a pub lunch or dinner. We wished we had bought our bikes as there are several villages/small towns within easy cycle distance on proper cycle paths. The campsite was simple yet effective, all grass pitches and level ground. Plenty of space between pitches and the shower/toilet block was modern and clean. There are some resident Chickens, the most beautiful Ducks and funny Guineafowl. Cows also wander through the fields behind!

Non mi è piaciuto: Not the fault of the campsite owners but another trip marred somewhat by barking dogs. We went to pitch up in a sheltered spot as it was a particularly windy day but we swiftly moved as far away as possible from the yapping dog.

Mi è piaciuto: Nice site, good clean facilities. Fabulous location, near to a pub and riverside walks. Quiet location and secure. Good communication with site prior to arrival.

Non mi è piaciuto: We were told our name & pitch number would be on a board by the entrance. ( I had booked two pitches together for family get together) On arriving neither names were on the board, but only three free spaces but none together. So I rang the number given, I'm still waiting to be phoned back. I spoke to another couple who were camping who had had the same issue the day before, and they'd just picked an empty slot. So we picked an empty pitch and parked our motorhome and put a single tent up on the same pitch as we wanted to be together. Slightly annoying that we'd paid £40 each for Two pitches though.

Mi è piaciuto: Enjoyed our first family camping trip. Chose this site for our first trip to test the waters and see if we like it. We quickly found that the hosts were extremely helpful and answered the phone and came to see us regarding a query. Which is great to see. After this trip we have decided that we, as a family enjoy camping. And plan to do much much more.

Non mi è piaciuto: Not really a dislike, as we knew what was at the camp site when we booked. But the place does warrant room for a park of some sort for kids. However, we are a family who enjoys walks with the dog, and this location offers amazing walks along the river Trent.

Mi è piaciuto: Big pitches. Easy electric hook-up Quiet Clean, hot showers. Good communication Close to National watersport centre It was great.

Mi è piaciuto: Campsite was lovely and owner was lovely.

Non mi è piaciuto: The people on the campsite was not really child friendly. A few comments were made regarding the children just doing children things. I felt like my whole camping experience was ruined trying to get my excited children to be quiet. I would recommend to a friend as I feel that it was just the people that ruined our experience.

Mi è piaciuto: Lovely peaceful site, close to nature with cows, chickens ducks and free range guinea fowl giving the place it's own character. Very friendly welcome and great to have own picnic tables Great walks straight from campsite and many nice places to eat within walking distance

Mi è piaciuto: Lovely quiet site with basic amenities. Friendly staff. Very close to the river - perfect for walking. Very friendly neighbours (cows!).

Mi è piaciuto: Lots of space for each pitch Lovely setting, in the end we barely left the site as it was such a lovely rural environment, with great views and visits from the local animals. A lovely pub next door with lots of outdoor tables and a kids play area, but worth booking if you want to eat Electric car charging point in the pub car park Dogs and BBQs allowed Not far to travel if you need more supplies Welcoming hosts but they they are not on top of you and leave you to get on with your holiday Toilets and showers were cleaned regularly They were very happy to accommodating 4 family's on pitchs next to each other. I've only given 3 stars for Wi-Fi as we didn't use it so I'm not sure how it was, we barely touched our phone etc.

Mi è piaciuto: The location of the site was really lovely, overlooking fields with cattle in. The pub is literally next door and you can have a walk along the river which is easily accessible and flat too. You are allowed gazebos, BBQs and fire pits which is great. We got a text in the morning with instructions on re how to get in the gates and how to find our pitch which was really helpful.

Non mi è piaciuto: A couple of things really let the site down for us though… The toilet/shower block (women’s especially) looks like it has recently been done up and could be fabulous if it was cleaned regularly, by the end of our stay they were really filthy, no toilet roll, full of spiders and flies and generally just felt really grubby to the point anyone of our party wanted to shower there on the day we left. Such a shame because if they were cleaned at least twice a day like most sites it could be a real gem but instead that spoilt it for us. If you’re not fussed about cleanliness then it’s a great site. Another thing that let it down for us was no freezer, we have a fridge but also rely on a cool box with ice packs but there was nowhere to refreeze them. A rope swing in the tree in the first paddock for kids would also be great as there was very little for them to do by way of outdoor play. Not an issue but just be prepared and take lots with you.

Dal gestore: Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. Unfortunately we had a very disrespectful group on site at the same time as your stay. They did not make it a pleasant cleaning experience either, the toilets and showers are checked and cleaned twice daily, however we cannot guarantee someone will not urinate in the shower or leave waste sanitary items between our cleaning times as you know, so we were anticipating your review. We do not want these sort of people on site either and sharing the facilities with them is most unpleasant! Daddy long legs (spiders) we do get a lot of and as much as we try to cull them, they insist on coming back, but then its nature and outdoors We do not advertise as a site with children's play, we are a secure family friendly site so please read the itinerary when booking your next campsite and hopefully you will have a more positive experience.

Mi è piaciuto: Camping au calme, emplacement spacieux et bien plat. Les propriétaires sont très sympa et nous ont bien dépanné pour l'électricité.

Non mi è piaciuto: Malheureusement les sanitaires ne sont vraiment pas propres. Nous sommes restés 2 nuits, donc sur 3 jours, le ménage n'a pas été fait. Heureusement, nous étions assez peu et les gens faisaient attention de ne pas trop salir.
