General

  • Peaceful site opposite a 16th-century pub in Kirkby on Bain
  • 1.75-acre coarse fishing with carp, bream, rudd, roach and more
  • Three miles from Woodhall Spa and 21 from Lincoln

Fishing and fauna? Barn owls and kingfishers are among the residents you might encounter among the six acres of wildlife haven of Bainside House in Lincolnshire, with more feathered and furry critters easily spottable in the surrounding countryside via serene strolls along the waters of the Bain.

Fish should be easily spotted on site as well: Bainside House's main attraction is its 1.75-acre fishing lake stocked with carp, bream, tench, perch, rudd, roach and barbell. Fishing not your thing? Golf courses and cycle paths are nearby, or you could amble along to Woodhall Spa, zip along to Lincoln, or hike the Lincolnshire Wolds, the Lincolnshire Fens or the Viking Way. (Whatever you pick for your day, round it all off with an evening at the topping 16th-century pub opposite the site, which serves good food and a range of cask ales.)

Among the basic but well-maintained amenities at this friendly place are a toilet and shower block with disabled access; recycling, and chemical disposal (only biodegradable or cesspool-safe chemicals to be used here, please).

Bainside is for adults only.

Lovely small quiet campsite in rural Lincolnshire24/07/2021

Lovely small quiet campsite, perfect for chilling out or going for a walk, or fishing. Had Hardstanding and metered electric (we used £2.69 for a 3 night stay but no heating used since it was a hot spell). There were 2 WC/Shower rooms and also a separate WC for those day fishing on the lake next to campsite, which looked well organised even though we don’t fish! The campsite is next to a pub, which has seating indoors and outdoors. Meals looked nice although we just had some drinks there and a bowl of chips (which were lovely!). We walked to the nearest town Woodhall Spa (about an hour each way), which although was by the main road there weren’t that many cars so it wasn’t an issue and there is a grass verge (a bit overgrown so maybe wear trousers). The reception wasn’t manned when we arrived but just ring the owner on his mobile and he’ll come. There is also a list of food items which they sell in small quantities if you need anything. Although there is a small Sainsburys and Co-Op in Woodhall Spa.

    Disliked:

Nothing to dislike, just be sure to lock the WC door properly or you could get caught out! There are RAF jets fly occasionally overhead but for us this was a highlight and only momentarily noisy.

The site is lovely and so well kept. The facilities are exceptionally clean, best we have ever seen. The fishing is very good, catching an average of 10 to 15 good sized fish a day. The hosts, Mick and Sheila couldn't do enough for you. The area is lovely, plenty to do and lots of other fishing venues in the area as well.

Everything! Owners were lovely, very friendly, attentive but also gave you space to enjoy your stay. Toilet/shower facilities, whilst small, were cleaned regularly and good. Pitch was generous and flat. Electric worked out really cheap. Peaceful and relaxing site. Lovely pub within walking distance which was an added bonus.
