Great site for a quiet weekend away from it all. 04/09/2017

  • Liked:

The location was exactly as stated on website, nice and quiet field setting directly behind the pub. Food was lovely, strongly recommend anyone staying book a table as very popular eating place. Staff very helpful managed to squeeze us in Saturday night for a meal.

    Disliked:

We are motorhome owners so not having a shower block wasn't an issue for us but its the only thing that would improve this site. However it does clearly state this in the site information.

Nice site pub shocking trwatment of campers forced to sit outdoors 02/09/2017

The site was nice pub was disappointing as unless you were eating in there you were not allowed to sit indoors n was made to sit outside for this reason alone we will not be returning here thats pretty shocking when paid to stay poor hospitality

    Disliked:

The hospitality recieced from the pub

From the manager...

Nobody is ever made to feel unwelcome in this establishment. It does not matter if someone is coming in for a 3 course meal or just a coffee and a glass of water. The only reason I can think that you had to sit outside, which may I add, is very comfortable, is because that if it was the bank holiday weekend, we were full and all our tables were booked out to diners, some of the tables, more than once, some people eating outside. The seating in front of the bar was also full. Nobody is asked to sit outside or in the conservatory, ever, the only reason would be if they had a dog with them in which case we do not have enough room in the restaurant or bar to accommodate them. I also asked my staff if there was anyone unhappy after reading your review they could not recall anybody.

No showers, long wait for food in restaurant, pub closed on Sunday!

From the manager...

Thank you for comments. My details on Pitchup clearly state that we do not have showers, it maybe something that we might consider installing at a later date. I don' know if you had booked a table in the restaurant, if you didn't you may have had to wait for a table. Food orders once placed are timed and are freshly cooked to order as they come in, as far as I am aware nobody waited more than 45 minutes for home cooked food (not boil in the bag), on which was a very busy weekend. The pub is not closed on Sundays, we open for Sunday lunch and it depends on how many diners we have as to what time we finish, usually 3-3.30 pm., but it we have been known to gone on till much later and booking is always advisable. The pub does not close till the last drinker goes home last Sunday it was 6 pm.

Ground was rather hard, couldn't get most of the pegs in beyond half way - That said there is very little wind there and it didn't cause us any issues

    Disliked:

Disliked Everything won't stay here again, the pub only opens at certain times, and there is a £20 deposit for the key for toilet which is a bit steep, i could have made a football pitch with all the grass that kept coming in off the dogs and our selfs,

From the manager...

Thank you for your review. I do not pretend to be a anything other than an adult only site which accepts dogs on a quite country site in a quite country village. The pub is a food led destination.restaurant. I do not have passing trade so my opening hours are adjusted to my customers. I really do not think this site was for you and you needed somewhere that had concrete bases on a much bigger commercial site with a club house. You also failed to say that the deposit for the key is refundable and given back on the morning of departure.
