  • Family- and dog-friendly site in the Lincolnshire Fens
  • Adventurers’ haven: walking, biking and riding routes, and boat hire
  • Slow-paced site: golfing and fishing less than 10 minutes’ walk away
Don your explorers’ cap for oodles of hiking, biking, riding and boating… At Springfield Farm Campsite, a family-friendly site half an hour’s drive from Spalding market town in Lincolnshire, they’re all part of a relaxing getaway. Inside the Lincolnshire Fens, Springfield Farm is a prime jumping-off spot for exploration of this part of Cambridgeshire – there are tons of trails criss-crossing the Fens that should suit cyclists, ramblers and horseback riders down to the marshland ground, and you can hire a narrowboat for a day of tootling along the Fens’ small rivers in March (30 minutes away). For that sedate experience, net yourself some prime lakeside seating and cast a line out at North View Fishing Lakes, less than a minute’s drive or 10 minutes’ walk from the site, or play a round at the neighbouring Gedney Hill Golf Course instead. Back on site, there’s play equipment, petting animals, table tennis, football and basketball for the whole family – even your pups will be kept busy with a few turns in the enclosed dog walk area. Once you’ve all worked up an appetite, head to the shared kitchen or fire up the barbecue and get to cooking (you can grab supplies from the grocery store two minutes down the road or one of the larger supermarkets in Wisbech, half an hour away). If you’d prefer a change of scenery, try one of the restaurants within 15 minutes of Springfield Farm.

What customers say

This well-maintained campsite is praised for its exceptional family-friendliness, with a vast array of activities for children including a large play area, go-karts, and animal feeding. Visitors highlight the warm welcome and helpfulness of the owners, Clare and Stu. While most facilities, including showers, are considered clean and good quality, some guests noted the toilets could benefit from a refresh. The on-site cafe and homemade food are popular.

Electric optional grass pitch (XL)

Liked Absolutely fantastic place. We will definitely be back again. Great hosts, great facilities, brilliant large pitches.

Disliked The only down side was a few families used my pitch as a regular cut through, as I was in my van taking up less room. I had my little dog with me, who wasn't too happy about being tripped over a few times, as he rushed to say hello. (On a ground spiked leash). But this wasn't the sites fault and most other guests didn't do this.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Family friendly and great host Claire. Plenty of play area for the kids and they could feed the donkeys, pigs, goats and alpacas. We were only a couple but lovely to see all the children having fun and Claire put us on a quiet pitch away from others. Loved the fabulous pizzas on Saturday night.

Disliked Only 3 showers - had to queue

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Loved everything about this little campsite! They've really thought about all campers, from toddlers to older children to adults. It's got everything you'd need for a fab little weekend (or week!). This site packs a lot in for such a small site (but not campers!) - playpark, go karts, little football pitch, fenced off toddler area and and climbing toys, animals that you can feed (alpacas, donkeys, goats, pigs), rustic cafe serving great food, even a craft hut with LOADS to do! There's also a small hut with kids toys, books for all and £1 lollies and drinks with an honesty payment box.

One thing I will say though is that the Panini's are rather on the expensive side = £8 for a cheese and onion panini?! BUT the food and cakes are all homemade and super scrummy, served with a very nice, barista coffees and yummy drinks (Kids loved the milkshakes). My husband couldn't get enough of the vegan sausage roles!

The site itself is very well maintained and was quiet, especially for an easter weekend - this site definitely values customer experience over cramming you in like sardines!

The pitches are flat, roomy and well spaced. Great washing up facilities and showers but I would say the toilets are in need of a lick of paint and refresh.

Wifi only available at / near the coffee shop - but then that's what makes customers buy coffees and keeps the kids off their devices!

The owners and everyone that works here work super hard at going that extra mile to make sure you enjoy your weekend. Not many sites would come round and hand out an easter egg to all the children! Which was a lovely gesture. It's well run and organised and Clare (owner) is very amiable and cheery - but also not afraid to (politely but firmly) have a quiet word if things get a bit too rowdy – fair play!

I have to say, this is one of the best sites we've been to and would most definitely return.

Local attractions

Start your stay at Springfield Farm Campsite by exploring the surrounding towns and villages: visit the bi-weekly markets and try your hand at pottery painting in Spalding, marvel at the ruined abbey and three-sided bridge in Crowland, and scoot over to Wisbech for Elgood’s Brewery and Peckover House and Gardens. If Peckover has whetted your appetite for stately old piles, you’re well served around here: the spectacular Oxburgh Hall and Tattershall are both within an hour of the site, and you can feel like nobility at the British Royal Family's country retreat at Sandringham, 45 minutes away. Want a change from bricks and mortar? Get out in nature at the Wash National Nature Reserve, 45 minutes from Springfield Farm, or stick closer to base with stops at Baytree Owl and Wildlife Centre and Skylark Garden Centre, Maze and Funyard. Take a break from the touristy traipsing to burn a hole in your pocket at Springfields Shopping Outlet, giving the kids (and your card) time to cool off between shops at Adventure Land and re-finding your zen post-spree in the Springfields Festival Gardens.
