General

  • Family- and dog-friendly site in the Lincolnshire Fens
  • Adventurers’ haven: walking, biking and riding routes, and boat hire
  • Slow-paced hols: Golfing and fishing less than 10 minutes’ walk

Don your explorers’ cap for oodles of hiking, biking, riding and boating… At Springfield Farm Campsite, a family-friendly site half an hour’s drive from Spalding market town in Lincolnshire, they’re all part of a relaxing getaway.

Inside the Lincolnshire Fens, Springfield Farm is a prime jumping off spot for exploration of this part of Cambridgeshire – there are tons of trails criss-crossing the Fens that should suit cyclists, ramblers and horseback riders down to the marshland ground, and hire a narrowboat for a day of tootling along the Fens’ small rivers in March (30 minutes away).

For that sedate experience, net yourself some prime lakeside seating and cast a line out at North View Fishing Lakes, less than a minute’s drive or 10 minutes’ walk from the site, or play a round at the neighbouring Gedney Hill Golf Course instead.

Back on site, there’s play equipment, petting animals, table tennis, football and basketball for the whole family – even Rex will be kept busy with a few turns in the enclosed dog walk area. Or you could simply soothe your aching limbs in the hot tub (just don’t forget to prebook)…

Once you’ve all worked up an appetite, head to the shared kitchen or fire up the barbecue and get to cooking (you can grab supplies from the grocery store two minutes down the road or one of the larger supermarkets in Wisbech, half an hour away). If you’d prefer a change of scenery, try one of the restaurants within 15 minutes of Springfield Farm.

The Willow Bell tent was fantastic, very spacious and everything you need. Site facilities were excellent well equipped kitchen. My 2 young girls loved the wide variety of toys/games on site also the animals.

    Disliked:

Nothing to dislike really but with only 2 toilet/shower rooms I could see it being an issue during busy periods, but I think the other block was under refurbishment, if I'm being super picky the kitchen could do with a hob.

From the manager...

Thank you for your comments, we are really happy you enjoyed your stay,

We have noted people comments with regard to the toilets and we have put in a secondary toilet block to use when the showers are busy,
With regard to installing a hob in the glamping kitchen we feel this would spoil the experience as people like to cook outside on the barbecues.

We booked a Bell tent - our first go at just turning up as we usually camp.

Beautiful tent, lovely comfy bed (and Ted Baker bed linen!)

Claire was really helpful and very visible round the site, great little info leaflet in the tent.

A selection of tea / coffee / biscuits provided free as a little welcome pack. It was lovely to have proper electricity in the tent.

Plenty of outdoor table / seating.

I loved the honesty freezer and fridge (ice creams and cold drinks) also a supply of breakfast cereal.
They had provided so much for children of a good range of ages- which although we didn't use on this occasion we will be back with small ones in tow!

The animals were cute and not intrusive (i.e. not too noisy) who doesn't love donkeys and goats???

You can order a BBQ or breakfast meat pack and also freshly cooked pizza.

The kitchen is really helpful - but you do still need to take some form of cooking solution (BBQ or gas hob) if you like to cook as there is just a microwave, but so much other kitchen paraphernalia. Nice big fridge freezer too.

    There's a hot tub too :-)

There is a good shop in the village if you have forgotten anything.

Although we didn't camp, we did have a nosy around, pitches are very generous and they don't overfill the site at all.

My partner didn't manage to connect to the wi fi - I had no problem (made me laugh as he's the techy one too!)

    Disliked:

    Nothing it was fab!

Not a dislike just a note so you are aware - there are only 2 showers - which are also toilets (although there are more toilets), we were there at the same time as a big group of friends - all with children - so accessing them was quite tricky - you just have to pick your time and fortunately we were up and about early as we had a long bike ride planed.

On the plus side - they were huge compared to most campsites and lovely and warm and clean.

Such a lovely welcoming campsite, very well thought out for families with a great play area visible from all pitches and animals the children loved. Clare couldn’t do enough to help and our children were sad to leave! The shower facilities / dressing rooms are really fantastic too.

The whole arrangement of this camp site was perfect but I most like the friendly atmosphere and quite peaceful environment.

The facilities are new, clean and to a very high standard. The layout and the resources have been carefully throughout from the childrens play area in the middle of pitch to they can been seen to the Hot tub.

Although I can on a couples break this is without a doubt a place I would return to with my children, teenagers have games on site and there is loads to do a short drive away. Clean and enclosed it is a safe place to allow them to play. Access to water, showers and watching up facilities were of a high standard. Both me and my partner had an amazing stay, it could not be improved in any way.

    Disliked:

No dislikes really, wifi was hard to pick up from the far areas of the site.

This campsite was a great hit with the whole family! We're all agreed that it's the best we've ever stayed at. The facilities are excellent: luxurious shower rooms, a hot tub, a well-stocked games room, playground and lots of outdoor games equipment. The owners offer a warm and friendly welcome to their tranquil campsite, which is in a lovely rural setting. We had a very relaxing stay and will definitely return!

a nice quiet well run site, pitches are extremely large and well cared for , a picnic table is a nice touch provided on each pitch.

we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would return in the future

    Disliked:

the criticisms that i have didnt impact our enjoyment of the site but could have if the site was busier at the time we stayed.

Showers : there are only 2 they are very clean and exceptionally well kept, but if the site was full believe that this would have been an issue for us, there is a separate block of toilets but those dont have showers.

Electric : having spent 7 nights here even now im not sure on how this works seems to be a pay before you use system but never figured out how you purchased and couldnt find instructions, possibly could be explained on arrival

Want a change from bricks and mortar? Get out in nature at the Wash National Nature Reserve, 45 minutes from Springfield Farm, or stick closer to base with stops at Baytree Owl and Wildlife Centre and Skylark Garden Centre, Maze and Funyard.

Take a break from the touristy traipsing to burn a hole in your pocket at Springfields Shopping Outlet, giving the kids (and your card) time to cool off between shops at Adventure Land and re-finding your zen post-spree in the Springfields Festival Gardens.
