Spacious grassy pitches

General

  • Peaceful family-run site on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds AONB
  • A 30-minute drive to Lincoln and 50 minutes to the coast
  • Dogs and horses welcome

Far from being a flat landscape, the chalk hills and sandstone peaks of the Lincolnshire Wolds are the highest ground between Yorkshire and Kent. And if you'd like to thoroughly explore, Lindsey Trail Touring Park is a well-placed base to discover this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with routes for cyclists and walkers minutes from the site.

The site takes its name from the Lindsey Trail, a 69-mile circuit crossing the main road a few minutes beyond the golf course. Visitors can hike, bike or horse-ride their way through Lincolnshire's medieval villages and ancient woods, taking in highlights like Dog Kennel Wood, carpeted with bluebells in the spring, and Somersby, birthplace of Tennyson.

Supplies are easily sorted five minutes' drive away in Market Rasen, where there are shops to stock up in, pubs and restaurants to refuel in, and weekly markets that have been a feature of town life since Domesday times.

Back at base, kids will love meeting the resident horses and sheep on this family-friendly park, and dogs should be pretty chuffed too at the wooded walking area for canine visitors. Horses and their boxes can also be brought onto the site; handy with the racecourse a minute's drive (or gallop) away...

Please note

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Twin axle vehicles are not permitted on site.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Single-sex bookings of 2 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Group bookings of 2 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

Very helpful, Friendly owners. We had 2 young dogs with us , the site wasn’t busy so the owner was happy for our dogs to run around (on long leads) on the next pitch.
The facilities were good. Toilets, Showers, washing up area etc. The owner kept the area tidy at all times
The campsite is about 30 minutes walk into Market Rasen and next door to a golf club which welcomes you for drinks and meals.
We would go back to to this site again.

Very clean and quiet site. Owner was very friendly and helpful. Close to lots of walks and only approx. 40 mins drive to the coast. Golf club next door is very handy and allow dogs. Staff and members were very friendly and the club serves the best fish finger sandwich I have ever tasted :)

Theddlethorpe beach is perfect for dog walking. Literally miles of quiet sandy beaches and not much else! No cafes or ice cream parlors, so very few people. However it is only a short drive from Mablethorpe if you need to have ice cream or fish and chips.

I would definitely recommend this site and will be returning in the not too distance future.

Nice setting, very clean facilities and level decent sized pitches - we have a camper van and awning. Warm and friendly welcome from Ian, who was often seen around the site and always smiling. Used a local taxi firm to take us into Market Rasen, which is within walking distance (approx 1.5 miles), but we chose not to walk. Golf Club is next door and we were told food is good and reasonably priced. We didn't sample on this occasion.

Local attractions

A popular family destination is Wild Pines Park a minute’s drive away, with zipwires and rope walks up high, archery and playgrounds on the forest floor. To see an even wilder side, people head to Woodside Wildlife Park (10 minutes), a hands-on zoo experience with tigers, white wolves and sloths.

History lies thick on the ground in Lincoln (30 minutes), with its 11th-century castle, 12th-century cathedral and ancient winding street quarter called Steep Hill (they’re not joking). Doddington Hall (40 minutes) was built in 1600 and has stayed in the same family ever since; a Tudor house and home that’s bursting with treasures.

International Bomber Command (35 minutes) commemorates the part Lincolnshire’s people and airfields played in World War Two. Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre (40 minutes) pays tribute to the local industry; naturally enough, it's a popular stop for fish and chips too...

Wild dunes and broad beaches are within easy reach as well, as Skegness and quieter Mablethorpe are 50 minutes away.

Must see

  • Lincoln Cathedral (13.7 miles)
  • Lincoln Castle (13.7 miles)
  • Lincoln Medieval Bishops' Palace (13.7 miles)

National Trust

  • Tattershall Castle (19.7 miles)
  • Gunby Hall Estate: Monksthorpe Chapel (24.3 miles)
