General
- Peaceful, friendly site on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds AONB
- A 30-minute drive to Lincoln and 50 minutes to the coast
- Dogs and horses welcome
Far from being a flat landscape, the chalk hills and sandstone peaks of the Lincolnshire Wolds are the highest ground between Yorkshire and Kent. And if you'd like to thoroughly explore, Lindsey Trail Touring Park is a well-placed base to discover this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with routes for cyclists and walkers minutes from the site.
The site takes its name from the Lindsey Trail, a 69-mile circuit crossing the main road a few minutes beyond the golf course. Visitors can hike, bike or horse-ride their way through Lincolnshire's medieval villages and ancient woods, taking in highlights like Dog Kennel Wood, carpeted with bluebells in the spring, and Somersby, birthplace of Tennyson.
Supplies are easily sorted five minutes' drive away in Market Rasen, where there are shops to stock up in, pubs and restaurants to refuel in, and weekly markets that have been a feature of town life since Domesday times.
Back at base, guests should keep eyes peeled to see sheep grazing in surrounding fields and for birds and other wildlife on site; dogs are likely to be pretty chuffed too at the wooded walking area for canine visitors. Horses and their boxes can also be brought onto the site; handy with the racecourse a minute's drive (or gallop) away…

Local attractions
A popular family destination is Wild Pines Park, a minute’s drive away, with zipwires and rope walks up high, archery and playgrounds on the forest floor. To see an even wilder side, people head to Woodside Wildlife Park (10 minutes), a hands-on zoo experience with tigers, white wolves and sloths.
History lies thick on the ground in Lincoln (30 minutes), with its 11th-century castle, 12th-century cathedral and ancient winding street quarter called Steep Hill (they’re not joking). Doddington Hall (40 minutes) was built in 1600 and has stayed in the same family ever since; a Tudor house and home that’s bursting with treasures.
International Bomber Command (35 minutes) commemorates the part Lincolnshire’s people and airfields played in World War Two. Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre (40 minutes) pays tribute to the local industry; naturally enough, it's a popular stop for fish and chips too...
Wild dunes and broad beaches are within easy reach as well, as Skegness and quieter Mablethorpe are 50 minutes away.
