Lindsey Trail Touring Park: Plenty of space

General

  • Peaceful, friendly site on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds AONB
  • A 30-minute drive to Lincoln and 50 minutes to the coast
  • Adults-only site with dogs and horses welcome

Far from being a flat landscape, the chalk hills and sandstone peaks of the Lincolnshire Wolds are the highest ground between Yorkshire and Kent. And if you'd like to explore thoroughly, Lindsey Trail Touring Park is a well-placed adults-only base from which to discover this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with routes for cyclists and walkers minutes from the site.

The site takes its name from the Lindsey Trail, a 69-mile circuit crossing the main road a few minutes beyond the golf course. Visitors can hike, bike or horse-ride their way through Lincolnshire's medieval villages and ancient woods, taking in highlights like Dog Kennel Wood, carpeted with bluebells in the spring, and Somersby, birthplace of Tennyson.

Supplies are easily sorted five minutes' drive away in Market Rasen, where there are shops to stock up in, pubs and restaurants to refuel in, and weekly markets that have been a feature of town life since Domesday times.

Back at base, guests should keep eyes peeled to see sheep grazing in surrounding fields and for birds and other wildlife on site; dogs are likely to be pretty chuffed too at the wooded walking area for canine visitors. Horses and their boxes can also be brought onto the site; handy with the racecourse a minute's drive (or gallop) away…

Please note

The campground/park does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Tents are not accepted at this park.

The campground/park caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

Guests under the age of 21 are not allowed on site.

This is a quiet campground/park: no music is allowed.

Continental touring caravans (caravans built with the door on the right-hand side) are not permitted.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Group bookings of 1 or more units (e.g. tent, caravan, motorhome or accommodation hire) travelling together are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

The maximum width allowed for awnings is 2.5m.

Only professionally converted campervans, motorhomes or caravans are allowed on site.

Traffic on race day as very close to Market Rasen race course. Race days approx. Once a month.

From the manager...

Thank you for your comments and all constructive comments are greatly received.
The Golf Course that is 120m from the campsite has a large selection of ales, lagers, wines and a full bar food menu is open to the public to use, and this can be accessed straight from the campsite so you do not need to walk on the road.
Market Rasen is only a 20 minute walk where there are several pubs, restaurants and cafes.
As regards the traffic, this was due to school leaving time and race traffic leaving a race course meeting on a Friday evening.
We will contact the education board and Jockey Club to discuss their leaving times and caravan and motor home arriving times 😂
The only facility we provide is the toilet/shower block as advertised and we are very proud of our cleanliness of the toilet/shower block and campsite, as 99.9% of customers have pointed out and remarked about in their feedback.

Thanks Ian everything was great we stayed for 3 nights over the may bank holiday. Would 100% return.
    1. Ian was there to greet us and explained the local area as well as recommended things to do , places to go and where to eat
    2. The park run was next door and literally ran past the campsite
    3. Nice quiet site, a few rules to follow but nothing unreasonable and all rules ensured an enjoyable time could be had by everyone
    4. Facilities modern and clean with enough toilets and showers as the site only holds say 20 caravans / motor homes
    5. No timers on showers - this was a huge plus I’m sick of only being trusted with only 10 seconds of water at a time
    6. Good selection of leaflets available as well as walking routes straight from the site
    7. 4g signal good on numerous networks so was enough to easily stream content

Local attractions

A popular family destination is Wild Pines Park, a minute’s drive away, with zipwires and rope walks up high, archery and playgrounds on the forest floor. To see an even wilder side, people head to Woodside Wildlife Park (10 minutes), a hands-on zoo experience with tigers, white wolves and sloths.

History lies thick on the ground in Lincoln (30 minutes), with its 11th-century castle, 12th-century cathedral and ancient winding street quarter called Steep Hill (they’re not joking). Doddington Hall (40 minutes) was built in 1600 and has stayed in the same family ever since; a Tudor house and home that’s bursting with treasures.

International Bomber Command (35 minutes) commemorates the part Lincolnshire’s people and airfields played in World War Two. Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre (40 minutes) pays tribute to the local industry; naturally enough, it's a popular stop for fish and chips too...

Wild dunes and broad beaches are within easy reach as well, as Skegness and quieter Mablethorpe are 50 minutes away.

Must see

  • Lincoln Cathedral (22.0 kilometres)
  • Lincoln Castle (22.1 kilometres)
  • Lincoln Medieval Bishops' Palace (22.1 kilometres)
