General

  • Quiet countryside setting between Cleethorpes and Louth
  • Next to a steam railway station with trains running on set days
  • Overlooking the Lincolnshire Wolds and 30 minutes from Lincoln

Set in a beautiful open countryside setting, Snailsspace at The Siding is a small site owned and run by motorhomers Jenny and Wayne. The site overlooks the Lincolnshire Wolds and is next to a steam railway station, with trains running on set days. It's a peaceful setting if you want a quiet holiday, but also a good base for getting around the many local attractions, towns and seaside destinations.

The site sits between the traditional seaside town of Cleethorpes and the pretty market town of Louth in a quiet, countryside location. It's a pet-friendly park, with water and waste disposal points, and a patio for relaxing and taking in the views. A toilet, shower and washing-up area are available, but as it's a touring park, most guests use their own on-board facilities

A child- and dog-friendly pub serving good food and ale is a level mile away; farm shops and several more pubs and restaurants are a short drive or cycle away. The local Chinese and Indian takeaways will deliver to site daily from Tuesdays to Sundays inclusive: ask Jenny or Wayne for menus.

Please note

Bookings must not be for more than 20 consecutive nights.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Along with the size, customers must specify the unit they are travelling with, e.g., campervan, motorhome or touring caravan.

    Friendly host.
    Peaceful.
    Clean and tidy.

    Disliked:

Could have done with more facilities ie separate toilet to shower , or more toilets.
Maybe a small shop as nothing around for quite a distance.
Other campers not following stated rules ie keep dogs on leads at all times .

From the manager...

Sadly, we often find that not everyone follows our fairly simple rules, i.e. Not Leaving dogs alone on site for long periods, leads on etc. But we just have to leave it to trust in our guests.
Our little village shop sadly closed 3 years ago, due to lack of custom. However, a little shop on site to service our usual 4 vans plus an additional toilet block would also make our little site unsustainable.
Thanks for the review.

Nice quiet small site in a beautiful setting, with friendly site owners. We all loved the station and the walk to the local pub.

    Disliked:

A very small thing but I would prefer a glass shower door rather than a curtain.

From the manager...

Thanks for the lovely review, and I totally
agree that I prefer a glass shower door, but,
believe it or not - the season started out with one lol.....

Easy access to steam train which the kids loved, clean site

    Disliked:

Not for kids, nowhere to go in walking distance

From the manager...

Sadly, I think you needed to book into a very different site to ours. With you being new to motorhoming, you'll find that sites will state in their 'facilities' description, if they provide children's entertainment, ball game areas, play parks etc. We are child friendly, but we neither have, or advertise, childrens' play areas.
We are a small, peaceful, countryside site, that our guests use for both quiet relaxation, and a base to vist the many excellent family fun facitities and beaches around the area. Cleethorpes, Skegness, to name just a few, are all in easy driving distance.
I understand though, that, with arriving so late in the evening, and with many more children than you had booked for, (our booking limit is 4 persons per unit) you were hoping for a lot more kiddy friendly space for them to let off steam than we have available.
Our local pubs are, indeed, child friendly, but a bit too far for some little legs, and, coupled with too many passengers to safely put in your additional car, you were rather restricted to site.
We hope you find a more appropriate site to book next time.
