  • Peaceful, well-kept park with six lakes, walking trails and wildlife
  • A 15-minute drive to Lincoln; half an hour to the Lincolnshire Wolds
  • Café-bar, wifi, play area, takeaway food and fishing
Rural roams are firmly on the agenda at Hanworth Country Park, a serene site dotted with pretty paths and six lakes around 15 minutes’ drive from Lincoln. And angling’s on the cards too – four of the bodies of water here, stocked with mirror carp, common carp, chub, barbel, ide, perch, roach and tench, are open for fishing. There’s also a café-bar to order takeaway food and drink (with a handful of tables if you fancy eating in). Travelling with the tiddlers? Let them roam free in the play area. Animals are also often seen scampering around the park, especially around the lakes and woodland: think buzzards, red kites, woodpeckers and kestrels, as well as brown hares, squirrels, hedgehogs and deer. Attempt to catch a glimpse of these critters while roving along routes through the country park, either on foot or by bike; a favourite trails is the famed Lincolnshire Spires and Steeples path, which runs through the park and ends up at Lincoln Cathedral. Closer by is the village of Potterhanworth (10 minutes’ walk), a peaceful place with a handful of amenities including a large playing field with a play park, a skateboard park and tennis courts. A pub’s in the centre of the village – handy for evening drinks – and there’s a bus stop plying the Lincoln to Sleaford and Lincoln to Boston routes for explores via public transport. Surrounding villages such as Metheringham, Branston, Heighington and Washingborough are all within five miles and have conveniences like food shops, inn, takeaways, cafés, butchers and post offices.

What customers say

This well-maintained site offers spacious, level pitches and clean facilities, including individual shower cubicles. The on-site bar and restaurant are popular, with reasonably priced, well-cooked food. It's highly regarded for its fishing and dog-friendly walks. Some guests noted train noise and minor issues with shower facilities needing attention, but overall feedback is very positive, with many visitors planning return stays.

Liked Lovey clean friendly place. Nice flat full service pitch. Good bar and food too.

Disliked Could just do with a little shop for essentials. But did not dislike anything about Hanworth.

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Pitches were spacious, level and private, WiFi option worked well and very reasonably priced. Bar and restaurant well stocked, bar prices very reasonably priced and food well cooked and presented. Shower blocks and toilets were kept clean and in good working order. Plenty of park walks for the dogs. Friendly staff, well maintained facilities and grounds. Looking forward to the completion of the planned small on site shop.

Disliked Would like another Elsan point at the opposite end near the Pods, but understand that this is expensive to accommodate as a retro fit - please consider when upgrading shower blocks in the future

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Toilets / Shower block - Well equipped and clean. Shower temperature was spot on and push button lasts longer than 5 seconds which is always a bonus.

Nice restaurant and bar area, food was good and reasonably priced.

Bouncy castle had been setup for the kids to use freely throughout the weekend which we didn’t expect, kept my boys busy!

This is a great site that is local for us, a nice, peaceful weekend getaway with good sights, walks and an excuse to get our boys outside! I would love to see a bit of an investment in the kids play area (maybe a decent climbing frame), this really would make this one of the better locations in the area in my opinion!

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked Our pitch was big and hardstanding was good.
Facilities were good and clean. The food from the on site restaurant was reasonably priced and the food was really nice. This site is a fisherman's paradise, We didn't do any. The village was within a 10 minute walk, not a lot in there but we were able to catch a bus in to Lincoln and back and it also goes to Boston. Don't need to move your Van if you want to visit these areas

Local attractions

Pootling around on public transport? The nearest train station is in Metheringham (five minutes’ drive) for catching a ride to places including Peterborough, Sleaford and Doncaster. Lincoln (15 minutes) has a larger station with access to more destinations, but it’s worth lingering in this lovely city for a little while before fleeing further afield. Don’t miss the castle and cathedral or the shops and eateries in the cobblestoned Bailgate area. Keen to blend a few historically minded expeditions into your stay? Learn all about the Second World War at the International Bomber Command Centre (10 minutes), a memorial and interpretation complex dedicated to the RAF force that helped bring D-Day about.
