  • Small, peaceful family-run site 20 minutes' walk from Old Leake
  • 25 minutes' drive from the beach at Skegness
  • Three well-stocked lakes on site for year-round fishing
Fishing folks, feast your eyes on this. Crash in a cosy pod at Lincolnshire’s Lakeview Camping Pods and not only will you get a lovely lake view (you’ll be forgiven for taking that for granted, given the name), you’ll also be mere minutes from casting your rod into the water. Indeed, if you’re so inclined you could spend your whole break by the lakes – there are three of them on site for year-round fishing, stocked with carp (common and mirror), rudd, bream and roach. Not really that into fishing (gasp)? There are plenty of lake views for you too – and easy access to fenland walks, bike rides and birdwatching. You might even consider leaving the place behind in favour of day trips to the beach at Skegness or the markets of Boston, both of which are within a half-hour drive. Should you wish to enhance your rural retreat with a fresh-air cookout, you’ll be chuffed to see that each pod is kitted out with a barbecue stand to perch your disposable on while you sizzle a sausage or few. If you’re more of a country pub type, get walking – your local is about a 10-minute trot away, and there’s more 20 minutes away in the nearest village, Old Leake, where there’s also a small supermarket and a kids’ play area.

What customers say

This is a highly-rated, well-maintained campsite praised for its peace, quiet, and cleanliness. Visitors particularly highlight the excellent fishing opportunities and the beautiful lake views. Accommodation, including pods and huts, is described as clean, well-equipped, and comfortable. Staff, especially Rachel, are consistently mentioned for their friendliness and helpfulness. While most visitors have no complaints, a few noted limited storage in accommodation and occasional issues with sofa beds, which the manager has addressed by replacing a sofa bed. Some guests found the site too quiet for young children.

Hive camping pod

Liked Lovely clean site and very well laid out. The fishing is absolutely unbelievable just outside the hive with very big carp etc. That were obviously very well looked after. Our daugter and son inlaw turned up for a couple of days which we were expecting and unexpectantly had our grandson with them which put us up to 5 and a dog instead of 4. Rachel was very understanding and let it go. My wife has a medical condition and she found the hive wooden chairs very uncomfortabe so I let her use my more comfortable and well padded and nearly new fishing chair to use in the hive for comfort and I used the wooden chair to fish while she was using my fishing chair which Rachel pointed out wasnt made for fishing so I quickly changed back which made my wife uncomfortable while sat on it (abet I must say that Rachel didnt know about my wifes medical condition at the time)

Disliked We were in the Hive and it only has one room and a toilet not two rooms but it has a 2 ringed electric hob which we didnt know about which is a big plus. The Hive is very clean and well looked after and has everything you need Television, hob, microwave, fridge etc. but a BIG downside to the hive is the pull down slightly smaller than normal double bed which is extremely uncomfortable to sleep on .Theres hardly any padding on it and you are basicallly sleeping on wooden slats. Ive seen in past reviews that people have complained about this double bed being uncomfortable and its been said that its been changed which obviously it hasnt. If you check my other reviews youll notice that ive never left anything negative on any of the reviews ive left before. Ive been camping and fishing with my dog for absolutely years and ive slept in some very remote areas for the fishing and ive slept in small tents on the floor with the dog so im use to discomfort but never like that night on that pull out bed (and im not one for complaining about it) One night on it was enough as my wife and I sat up having a drink oof tea from 03.30 onwards. Id just like to finish with I would definately go back and enjoy the site and the fishing and I would definately reccomend it to friends but dont use the hive unless that bed has been changed because it will spoil your holiday I didnt mention the bed to Rachel because I knew we were person one over and would she really have been able to move 5 people to different accomodation but the bed needs changing.

The Hideaway shepherd's hut

Liked My second time on this site. So amazingly clean and well-kept even at this early stage of the year. The hut was as detailed, all I needed for the short stay. I'm 6'2 and a big chap, bed was more than comfy for me. Fishing pleasant too, well-stocked/cared for lakes.

Local attractions

It’s not all about the fishing – this is a fine place for folks who fancy a bit of rural rambling or riding. There are plenty of quiet lanes and footpaths around for a bike ride or a walk (excellent news for those bringing a canine pal), and some super nature trails for birdwatchers at the RSPB Freiston Shore reserve, 15 minutes away. Advanced equine handlers may be in the area for dressage lessons or competitions five minutes away at Sheepgate Equestrian; those with less refined skills or who just fancy seeing some of the countryside from horseback can join lessons or hacks from a riding centre 10 minutes away instead. Steer seawards and you’ll hit Skegness in about 15 minutes for beach days and trips to its aquarium, seal sanctuary and go-kart track. Head inland instead to visit the market town of Boston (20 minutes) for boat trips and the bubblecar museum, or take your shopoholic self to the antique centres of Horncastle, half an hour away.
