  • Quiet site between River Lee Country Park and RSPB Rye Meads
  • A 20-minute walk from Hoddesdon; 30 minutes to Rye House train station
  • Bicycle hire, countryside views and shop on site
Folks who like wildlife, cycling and country views will surely like the idea of settling down between RSPB Rye Meads and River Lee Country Park in Hertfordshire. That's where Park Lee Valley Caravan Park Dobbs Weir conveniently sits, surrounded by green countryside and bordered by a river on one side where guests can go fishing during the fishing season. After hiring a bicycle from the site, it's only a 10-minute cycle to the River Lee Country Park's boat centre, next to a pub and café. The country park has a lovely network of cycling and walking trails, as well as a wildlife discovery centre (20 minutes' cycle), a white water centre and a disc golf course (both half an hour's cycle). Lee Valley Caravan Park Dobbs Weir is also a doddle to get to, especially for London dwellers. It's half an hour's walk away from Rye House train station, where there's a direct 35-minute train to London Liverpool Street station. The centre of Hoddesdon is also only a 20-minute walk away from the site, making getting out to supermarkets, restaurants and shops as easy as can be. There are plenty of handy amenities on site too, from the heated toilet and shower blocks (with wheelchair accessible toilets) to laundry facilities with drying and ironing and a chemical disposal point. Pitches are nicely spaced out, and dogs are welcome on site.

What customers say

This well-maintained site offers clean, spacious pitches and friendly, helpful staff. Facilities, including heated shower blocks, are consistently praised for cleanliness, though some note they are a little dated. Its location is ideal for walks, cycling, and accessing London. Visitors frequently return, appreciating the peaceful atmosphere and proximity to local amenities. Some guests experienced issues with goose droppings and parking fines, though these are often acknowledged and addressed by management.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Lovely pitch on the electric tent part near the river. Very helpful staff in reception. Toilets lovely and clean and plenty of refuse areas.

Disliked I disliked the the number of rabbits because my lurcher loved them !! But I'm going to get that if I pitch up anywhere other than my back garden !!

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Lovely surroundings, very quiet and peaceful. Showers/toilets very clean, easy to check in, would definitely recommend. All pitches were level and well layed out. Didn’t have a long trek in middle of night for the toilet.

Disliked Only slight annoyance, was the free WiFi was very poor so you had to pay for the premium one. Can’t complain too much as phone signal was good so could hot spot tv

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked The site is well laid out and pitches spacious. Quiet when we visited too.

Disliked Access was a big problem and spoilt our visit. On arrival 5pm Easter Sunday there was no access, no phone number to call - no way in though we had paid in advance.

Eventually someone exited and we took advantage of the open barrier. No-one was in reception either - others were in the same situation. We pitched up in an available site and returned to reception the following morning when it was staffed.

Apparently we were missing a late arrivals email which would have given admittance instructions and an emergency number to call.

From the manager: Many thanks for your review and we’re sorry you experienced problems accessing the site. We’ve shared your review with the site team to look into the issue with the late arrival email.

Local attractions

Lee Valley Caravan Park Dobbs Weir's location in the Hertfordshire countryside puts guests within striking distance of walking and cycling trails, watersports and other activities in the Lee Valley Country Park. However, that's not the only reason that you should visit these parts… Hertfordshire Zoo (15 minutes' drive) is on the other side of Hoddesdon for animal encounters, and Epping Forest (25 minutes) is to the southeast, with a small zoo and more hiking and cycling trails. The very keen walkers among you may want to set your sights on a more challenging path. The Essex Way, a rural 81-mile path that can be followed as far as you like, begins in Epping Forest. Harry Potter fans could take themselves off to Warner Bros. Studio Tour London (40 minutes) for a day among the franchise's famed costumes and sets. Meanwhile, those who are more interested in history can go over to Copped Hall Trust (25 minutes) to fawn over the Georgian mansion and gardens.
