What customers say

This is a well-maintained, peaceful site with friendly owners, particularly popular for fishing. Guests praise the clean facilities, nice views of the lakes, and convenient location for local attractions. However, some visitors noted significant noise from nearby aircraft, with limited shower and toilet facilities being a recurring concern for some. A few reviews mentioned issues with the condition of some toilet facilities and occasional noise from road traffic.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Flat even pitch for my campervan

Disliked I arrived quite late in the day around 6.45pm but within the time frame stated on the website but reception was closed and no one appeared to be around. I called the mobile no which went to answer machine. I called the house no and a recorded voice said it was disconnected. I called the mobile no. again and one of the owners said simply knock on the door. When I finally got to speak to someone it felt that no one seemed to cared much whether I stayed to not.
One of the toilets had a dangerous hole in the floor right where you step in - an issue which had clearly been flagged in previous comments.

Not a campsite I would come back to ....

Good if you’re fishing, fine if just staying overnight.

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch (lake view)

Liked View of the lake was nice.

Disliked Dog poo all around the pitch area, showers need updating, no waste bins close by, very noisy road next to the pitch.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Good afternoon

Sorry you experienced some dog mess I looked all over the pitch and just found some paper bags ,the shower cannot be built in brick only wooden structures are allowed on the planning permission.the shower and toilets are cleaned twice a day as for the waste bins we only have recycling now same as the domestic environment which was all situated at the main gate as you departed
Kind regards
Ian

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked That it was a small site and the welcome we got, advice on where we could get something to eat after a long drive, lots of things to do in the surrounding areas

Disliked toilet and showers could do with an upgrade, it is under the flightpath of the airport nearby, getting out of the site can be tricky with a campervan as cars drive fast.

Local attractions

Base yourself at Springwood Fisheries for an easy angling break or a browse around the attractions and sights of the National Forest and Derbyshire – a bit more fishing is available around these parts too (hint: pick up a Forestry Commission fishing permit and look for Hatchet Pond and Little Hatchet). If you're on hol here with older kids, try the play areas, discovery zones and amphitheatre at Conkers Adventure Centre in the National Forest at Swindlicoate or the Megazone or Tenpin at nearby Derby. And all ages should be raring to get to the Grand Prix Collection at Donington Park, the biggest collection of Grand Prix cars in the world.
