General

  • Basic but peaceful campsite in the Peak District National Park
  • A 10-minute drive from Buxton; Bakewell 30 minutes
  • A short walk from the river Dove; spectacular views from the pitches

Brandend Camping is a small, basic but scenic site surrounded by the hills and forests of the Derbyshire Peak District. Set away from the crowds but within a 10-minute drive of the fab spa town of Buxton, this spot is well-suited to peaceful breaks, hiking holidays and visits to many of the best visitor attractions in the national park.

The site has excellent views over the local landscape and is a short walk from the river Dove. It's also about four miles from Three Shires Head, a popular waterside hiking spot, while the flat and easy paths of the Tissington Trail are a short drive from base.

Brandside Camping has simple facilities including portaloo toilets. Dogs are welcome to come and join in on your breaks here throughout the camping season. The closest coffee shop, pub and bus stop are located just over a mile away at the junction with the A53, so it's possible to stay here if you're considering leaving the car at home.

Being so close to Buxton is a big plus too, as the town has plenty of restaurants, bars, supermarkets and gift shops to browse, as well as top attractions like a Go Ape and the Poole's Cavern caves.

Beautiful views, peaceful campsite, very basic, delightful host, convenient location, would definitely return.

Portaloo didn't flush - easily solved with a bucket of water, which was provided! The location allows sound to travel across the fields so we fell asleep to the sound of a radio/TV and woke to the sound of a crying baby - serves me right for forgetting earplugs.

This camping spot has the best views with rolling hills and empty fields surrounding you, really takes you back to nature. Clean toilet for your posh poo when needed aswell as a bin provided for your rubbish. Genuinely some of the loveliest people own this site, who took the time to talk to us, recommend things in the local area and made us feel beyond welcome. Could not recommend this spot more, near so many beautiful spots such as the roaches, and the three shires. Thanks you for our stay, from all three of us!

How welcoming and nice the family are that run it. They came over and said hello everyday and stayed for a chat everyday too!

The pitch its self is one of the most beautiful I have ever had the pleasure to stay on (I camp a lot!). The view from this campsite is something special.

We loved our stay at Brandend Campsite!

The site itself is very minimal with only a toilet and water tap, however, this was perfect for us as we wanted a wild camping experience.

The site has stunning views of the surrounding valleys / countryside and the owner was very friendly and helpful.

We would definitely stay again, thank you 😊
