This was a very clean site with well defined pitches. The views from the site were wonderful. Most visitors to the site respected the site rules of quiet between the hours of 10pm to 7am. Loved the fact that you can buy the wi-fi code for a selected period of time ie 1, 2 or 5 days. We can highly recommend the sausages from the farm shop, even if they were pricey.
The village is pretty and had 3 pubs within walking distance plus a small village shop. Bakewell is only a 10 minute drive away.

    Disliked:

Only 1 shower and 3 toilets for the whole site. However, there were plans for a new washroom block to be built. Just no details of when!

A small campsite, campers were generally considerate to the campsite rules. The owners were on hand and helped whenever they could, allowed people to swap pitches etc. Working farm so children need to be supervised, WiFi was free to sign up to hourly or better WiFi could be purchased, very reasonably priced and worked really well, overall lovely peaceful site in a lovely location, good pubs in walking distance, good walking from site also. On site farm shop. Would stay again.

    Disliked:

Not really a dislike and I think is also a temporary measure, but there is only one shower, which on occasion there were queues and only 3 toilets, one larger, family washroom/toilet, although for me this didn’t distract from my stay, they were always clean and the one shower was a nice hot shower, £1 for 5 minutes to allow fairer use. I have stayed on bigger sites were they had lots of showers and toilets which were awful and overrun with children and difficult to keep clean.

nice setting and nice farm shop

    Disliked:

Poor parking facilities in glamping section. Only 5 spaces for 7 pitches (if people parked considerately, which they didn’t!). They should really consider making designated spaces or having lines down so people can see the space which they have done in other sections. Toilet and shower facilities very small and not enough of them for the amount of people on site and then to have the cheek of charging for the shower! So really you are literally just paying for small bit of grass in your booking fee. They have a quiet period of 10pm-7am where noise must be reduced and no vehicles to be used, however the farm machinery was running from 6:40am each morning and woke us up!

The campsite has beautiful views and easy access to the Monsal trail with 3 pubs within a short walk of the site. The packhorse pub in Little Longstone became our favoured watering hole which was a 10 min walk through a couple of fields. The site has 3 main toilets and an additional composting loo, all of which were clean regularly each day. We stayed on a medium hilltop pitch which had plenty of space for our 5 man tent, although you are pitched close to your neighbours this isn’t a problem as there is enough room and it is a quiet site with most people bedding down before 10pm. The owners were friendly and welcoming and have established a lovely family friendly site. We’ll definitely be back again next year and would recommend to friends and family.

Local attractions

Pretty much all whims are whetted in the Peak District, whether you're into outdoor photography, climbing, caving, mountain biking, hiking, rambling, sightseeing or shopping for Peak District produce and souvenirs.

Monsal Head of Monsale Dale is on the Monsale Trail and less than a mile away from Dale Farm Rural Campsite. It's one of the top spots in the region for stopping and taking pics of the River Wye, its dale and the utterly gorge Headstone Viaduct, so prepare to spend some time gazing around.

A few miles from base, the sweet town of Bakewell is another highly popular Peak District stop and is the only market town in the national park.

Also a few miles away, Chatsworth House is yet another much-visited Peak highlight and has been voted several times as Britain's fave country house. Austen fan? This is the house Elizabeth visited in Pride and Prejudice and it was used as Pemberley in the BBC's 2005 adaptation. Yes, that one, with Colin Firth, in the lake…

Must see

  • Haddon Hall (3.8 miles)
  • Chatsworth (4.0 miles)
  • Sir Richard Arkwright's Masson Mills (10.9 miles)
