General

  • Peaceful site in the grounds of a traditional Derbyshire village pub
  • Peak District and Matlock within 25 minutes, Alton Towers in an hour
  • Pub restaurant, shop, takeaway and play area

Settle in for peaceful stays at Sitwell Arms, a family- and dog-friendly site in the grounds of the Sitwell Arms traditional country pub in the Derbyshire village of Morton.

This is a top spot for scenic wanders and explores: the site is 25 minutes’ drive from the edge of the Peak District, where there are hikes and climbs for the energetic and leisurely rides in vintage cars for everyone else – for those more at home in the saddle, it’s less than five minutes from long-distance national cycle route 67 and 15 minutes from pony trekking rambles in Matlock.

Keep energy up for canine pals and the rest of the family by bagging basics and essentials in the site shop to throw on the barbecue; starting every day with a full English breakfast in the pub (seven days a week) and ordering up evening meals (or fish and chips or pizza) in the pub from Tuesday to Sunday. (Please note that food isn't available after 3pm on Sundays; however, guests are very welcome to have lunch until then.)

When lazy site days are an absolute requirement, grind to a halt on the (slightly sloping) leafy pitch, which is dotted with picnic tables for afternoon bites and games, dispatch kids to the playground to stave off boredom, soak up some Sunday sun while watching the cricket on the village pitch next door, or retreat indoors for a game of pool in the bar.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Continental touring caravans (caravans built with the door on the right-hand side) are not permitted.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

This site has no on-site shower facilities.

The toilets are open from 7am to midnight.

Please note that the site is situated on a slight slope; levelling chocks may be required for your campervan, motorhome or caravan.

    No showers

From the manager...

Thank you for choosing to stay with us here at The Sitwell Arms. I do wonder why you have marked us down as a 2 for facilities , when we clearly state that there are no showers facilities. You were aware of this before booking. Also cleanliness. if during your stay you had mentioned anything that was untoward regarding cleanliness, then it would of being rectified immediately.
You fail to mention that we gave you logs for your fire and also ice for your own drinks and charged phones . Yet facilities are only classed as 2 mmmmm?
However we shall hopefully meet again.
once again thank you for choosing The Sitwell Arms

    Really friendly and helpful.
    Laid back relaxed atmosphere.
    Good pitch sizes.
Dog friendly, even inside the pub.
Fantastic little shop that seems to sell everything.
The kids loved all the chickens, ducks and rabbits.
So many good places to visit from here, it makes a good base if your wanting to explore the area.
    Some good dog walking routes.
The pub does take away food at really great prices.
Loved how quiet it was here, it's perfect for a relaxing break, or just a good night's sleep after a long day.
