Hardstanding

General

  • Peaceful site in the grounds of a traditional Derbyshire village pub
  • Peak District/Matlock within 25 minutes' drive; Alton Towers an hour
  • Pub-restaurant, takeaway and play area

Are you sitting comfortably? Even if the answer's yes, think how much snugger you'd be nursing a pint in this dreamy Derbyshire pub…

Sitwell Arms is a peaceful holiday spot in the grounds of a friendly inn in the village of Morton. This is a top spot for scenic wanders and explores: the site is 25 minutes’ drive from the edge of the Peak District, where there are hikes and climbs for the energetic and leisurely rides in classic cars for everyone else. For those more at home in the saddle, it’s less than five minutes to long-distance national cycle route 67 and 15 minutes to pony trekking rambles in Matlock.

Keep energy up by bringing along a few bits to throw on the barbecue; you might also like to start the day with a full English breakfast in the pub (seven days a week) or call in for evening meals from Tuesday to Sunday. (Please note that food isn't available after 3pm on Sundays; however, guests are very welcome to have lunch until then.)

When lazy site days are an absolute requirement, grind to a halt on the (slightly sloping) leafy pitch area, which is dotted with picnic tables for afternoon bites and games. You can also dispatch kids to the playground to stave off boredom, soak up some Sunday sun while watching games on the cricket pitch next door or retreat indoors to shoot pool in the bar.

Please note

Continental touring caravans (caravans built with the door on the right-hand side) are not permitted.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The play area is closed due to restrictions imposed by the coronavirus outbreak.

This site has no on-site shower facilities.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

The toilets are open from 7am to midnight.

Please note that the site is situated on a slight slope; levelling chocks may be required for your campervan, motorhome or caravan.

The restaurant stops serving food at 3pm on Sundays.

No meals will be served during the day from 30 June - 12 July, inclusive. Breakfast will still be available daily, however the shop will only be open until 2pm on weekdays and until 5pm on weekends during the above dates.

Only breakfast will be available from 25 August to 30 September.

Lovely chilled out site, in a quiet village, with fabulous hosts Jean and Mel who couldn’t do enough for us. I booked hard standing when in fact I wanted grass pitch and straight away they moved things around to accommodate me and my indecisiveness 😀 We ordered an English breakfast, one veggie, and was freshly cooked and delivered, with a pot of tea, straight to our camper van within 15 mins. (Saved on all the washing up the morning we left for home). Cheers guys again. We will be back again for sure 👍.
