Lovely campsite but lacked attention to detail.
Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch
Liked lovely views and not very busy with camp where you like
Disliked three portable toilets, but one was absolutely disgusting and totally unusable (with the smell travelling). The other two were fine and flushable, but lacked toilet paper. Also, one portable shower cubicle but no hot water and one outdoor shower but with a very flappy curtain, which made it unusable on a windy day. It was a good job the site was not busy as these facilities would not have been suitable for very many more people.

Good site, lovely area, let down by lack of investment in utilities
Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch
Liked This site has great potential. It’s in a great position with lots of good walking around the area & a brilliant pub/curry restaurant within 2miles.
The site itself is just let down by the utilities area. Not a problem having outdoor showers but a curtain flapping in the wind is not sufficient to maintain peoples dignity.
Having a portaloo that was full & left in this way stinking the place out. Also with that & the toilet waste pit next to a food wagon is not the best.
We attended on the bank holiday & the food van was not open.
With slight changes to the utilities area this would be a fantastic rustic & functional site.
Disliked Lack of solid doors on showers & showers not working 100% so not being hot.
Most of the weekend there was only one toilet available.

Liked Everything! Great basic camp site, lovely countryside location on the river. Facilities are basic but everything you need. Great base for the national bowl which is why we were there. Would stay again if visiting the area.

Good, basic pop up campsite. Ideal for families and groups.
Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch
Liked We were a group of four families with teenagers from London who regularly camp together.
The campsite is spacious and quiet. There were several other groups and individual campers/camper vans but far enough away from each other. We had lots of space to camp together and play rounders, badminton etc.
Note, the onsite food hut is only open for functions. There were no eggs to purchase despite this being advertised on the website.
The two useable portaloos were generally always clean. Bring a torch if you want to use them at night!
There is lots of hot water in the three showers. Two of them are open air with a shower curtain.
On Saturday morning one of the three showers was broken but it was fixed in the afternoon.
Finally, the onsite manager (who lives in a caravan in the camping field) was very friendly and helpful.
Disliked We travelled to Riverside Camping for the river (we brought kayaks etc) but due to the drought the river was stagnant. Even if the river was flowing there are signs that say "no swimming". We could have called and checked the status of this beforehand but didn't.
Unfortunately, the stagnant smell from the river lingered across the campsite which was unpleasant at times.
I would suggest the toilets need to be monitored more frequently for overflowing bins and toilet roll.
Note, we do always bring toilet roll/hand soap when camping as we appreciate they are not always provided.

Liked Waking up by the riverside in a tranquil location. Birdsong and sheep across the river first thing, hot shower and clean toilet, great host. Good mobile phone reception. Perfect for us. Loved it

Liked Exactly what I was looking for. Pitch up where you want, no fuss, very peaceful. Will deffo be coming back again.
Disliked Abit of noise from the road but nothing a pair of ear plugs can’t sort out.

Would definitely come again,
Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch
Liked Lovely tranquil spot by the river. Facilities although basic were superb. Gas shower was really good. Clean and tidy.
Disliked The smell from the stagnant area of the river Ouse was a little off putting, due to reduced flow from a tree fallen across the river. Not sure who's responsible for that. But might be worth investigating.
