Bowness-on-Solway, Cumbria, England
Electric optional hardstanding and grass motorhome pitch
Liked Modern shower block with plenty of hot water.
Indoor kitchen area for washing dishes.
Bar restaurant area.
Close to the coast and the start of Hadrians Wall.
Disliked I was disappointed as this felt like I was parked round the back of a car park, shared with a wood cutting business.
Although it did say some building work may be in progress, it was more like a building site that we were parked on - views of some old broken down vehicles, horse boxes, and piles of old building materials lying around was certainly not a peaceful retreat.
No Wifi as advertised.
Glad it was only for one night.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch
Liked Lots of space in between pitches, well maintained.
Washing & Laundry area indoors
Close to town centre, 10 mins walk to shops
Birds (large duck like) wandering about the site with ducklings
Good value for money paid
Disliked Shower luke warm, have to keep one hand on the button to keep the water flowing. An on/off tap would be better
Road can be noisy, but mainly only motorbikes leaving the town.
Watch where you walk if on the the grass - lots of ‘wildlife’ droppings
Wi-Fi chargable

Electric optional grass pitch
Liked Lovely views
Animals on the farm
Fire pits available
Not many on site so well spaced out - I wouldn’t like to stay when it was full, no privacy.
Honesty table available with eggs, kindling and logs.
Disliked Shower facilities were poor - basic and dirty (although the water was hot)
Fortunately two new portaloo’s installed.
Overpriced for what it is.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, I apologise you did not enjoy your stay, unfortunately we are not able to be on site at all times as we do both also work, so I apologise if the shower was dirty when you went down there, we do leave a mop in there hoping that people will mop it out after being used but this is not always the case. Regarding your private feedback we have 4 toilets and a shower not 2 toilet's and a shower, the toilet area is well lit at night with string lights outside, as we are a dark sky's area we do not have lights all over the campsite and your booking tells you to bring a good torch due to this, regarding pricing we are the same as the local campsites, you also say its just a field in your private feedback, maybe to you it is but to other people it somewhere to come for peace and quiet to sit by the river, meet the animals which alot of people never get the opportunity to pet a sheep or a goat or a lamb, and to go for long walks to spot deer and owls and other wildlife. As we overpriced and dirty please next time try another local campsite.

From the manager: Morning Lee thanks for your lovely review, the recycling situation is under review we had limited options when we started the season but I am told that the Cumberland council are now taking new customers on again so hopefully we will be able to switch to them as they do offer more recycling options, lindsey
