Great family campsite with big pitches & sea views. Clean loos, friendly staff, good shop & chippy. Kids love the pool & play area. Can be windy up high and some pitches are bumpy. Easy to get to Scarborough/Filey by bus.

Good for family’s with children
Lower area fully-serviced gravel touring pitch (super)
Liked The views out to sea and the cliffe side walk to Filey. Good location if you have a car.
Disliked The amount of off lead dogs. The horrible maggot smell coming from the bins, wafted over the whole site. They tried to say it was farmers fields but it was definitely the bins. We left a day early

From the manager: Thank you for your review, Karen.
We are pleased to hear you enjoyed the sea views and the cliff side walk to Filey.
With regards to the smell you mention, Crows Nest is set in the countryside and surrounded by working farmland. When farmers muck spread their fields, there can unfortunately be an unpleasant smell across the area for a short period, but this is outside our control and is part of being in a rural location.
The bins around the park are changed daily, and every bin on site is emptied 3 times per week, or more often if needed during busy periods. We do not accept that the whole site was affected by a smell from our bins in the way described. It is frankly absolute nonsense.
Dogs must be kept on leads around the park, and we do ask guests to follow this rule. If guests see dogs off lead, we ask that they report it to the team at the time so it can be dealt with.
We are sorry the site was not for you, but a 4 out of 10 score for countryside smells and other guests not following dog lead rules does feel very harsh.
Definitely recommend!

Thank you again, and we hope to welcome you back soon.
Great site with lots to do. Great access to Scarborough and Filey.
Upper area fully-serviced gravel touring pitch (super)
Liked Nice site. Great sea views. Staff very friendly. Showers were always hot despite water pressure issues. Liked the shop and takeaway. Well signed around the site and provided with maps on check in.
Disliked Dog field was insecure. Massive gaps under fence and gate meant dogs regularly escaping.
Nice tarmac roadways around static caravans instantly turned into dusty gravel tracks where tourers were situated and then dirt tracks where tents were situated. Felt a bit like we were being ‘classed’!
One main toilet block for all tourer and tent pitches meant that within 10 mins of them being cleaned they were filthy again.
Shame the access path to the beach wasn’t better maintained and was very steep. Selling point for the site was the proximity to the beach and access paths available. But on arrival, it’s 30-40ft above the beach with a very steep overgrown path down.

We are pleased to hear you found the site nice, enjoyed the sea views, and found the staff friendly. It is also good to know you liked the shop, takeaway, signage and maps provided at check in.
With regards to the dog field, it is provided as an exercise area and is not advertised as fully secure. Dogs should always be supervised, particularly as not all dogs behave in the same way around fencing or gates.
The gravel tracks and paths are part of the site design and planning requirements. They help with drainage and water absorption, which is especially important on a cliff top site where reducing erosion risk matters.
We do not advertise direct beach access from the park. Crows Nest is situated on a cliff top, and the cliff is closer to 300ft than 30ft. The coastal footpath is part of the national trail and is not maintained by the park. The location gives fantastic sea views and access to coastal walks, but safe beach access is via recognised the path to Cayton Bay rather than directly down the cliff.
The toilet blocks are cleaned regularly, but during busy periods they can unfortunately be left in a poor condition by some guests between cleans.
Thank you again for your feedback.
Lovely views, terrible loos!
Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch
Liked Great location and lovely view from campsite!
Disliked Unfortunately let down by poorly kept facilities with the toilets, family washrooms and pot wash being filthy every visit. Appreciate this is due to disrespectful visitors (wet tissue thrown at toilet doors and litter) but we didn’t see any cleaners or anyone patrolling the site during our visit.

From the manager: Thank you for your review.
We are pleased to hear you enjoyed the location and views from the campsite.
We are sorry to hear the facilities were not as you would have liked during your stay. The toilets, family washrooms and pot wash areas are cleaned a minimum of 4 times per day, but this week they have been particularly difficult to keep on top of due to the way some guests have used them.
We have had issues with intentional flooding, toilet roll being thrown around and stuck to walls, water balloon fights and general misuse of the facilities. This is sadly not a lack of cleaning, but a lack of respect and parental supervision from a small number of guests.
We do appreciate that it is unpleasant when facilities are left this way between cleans, but our team are working hard to keep them in order during one of the busiest periods of the year.
Thank you for your feedback.
Spectacular views, lots to do, well maintained sites.

Liked Central to so many days out: Scarborough, cayton bay, Filey, Filey brigg, Bridlington a little further. The site is very clean and has all you need, the shop is really well stocked. We camp up by the cliff we love the view, it can get windy at night sometimes but we like it when all snug in our sleeping bags. We climb down the cliff and often see seals at the bottom. Showers are hot. Plenty of toilets. Entertainment for kids. We have been here a few times now, highly recommend.
Disliked There is nothing to dislike. Wonderful site.

From the manager: Thank you for your fantastic review, Sharon.
We are really pleased to hear you enjoyed another stay at Crows Nest and found the site clean, well maintained and well stocked.
It is lovely to know the location worked so well for days out to Scarborough, Cayton Bay, Filey, Filey Brigg and Bridlington, and that you enjoyed the spectacular cliff top views.
We are glad the children’s entertainment, shop, hot showers and facilities all added to your stay.
Thank you for recommending us so highly, and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon.
Clean, friendly site with great views and excellent facilities.
Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch
Liked Lovely site with all the amenities we could need (although we are very low maintenance and usually suffice with a field and cold running water). Check in very quick and easy.
Family and dog friendly place to stay. It was busy given it was the summer holidays but not overly so, it didn’t feel cramped and noise levels were not excessive. Single sex groups are not allowed, presumably to discourage stag and hen do type groups, but as two mums with four girls we didn’t have a problem. There is a curfew of about 10pm when quiet is expected and whilst you could hear a few people chatting quietly it was not disruptive for sleeping at all.
Gorgeous views from the upper camping field and gate to coastal path to Cayton Bay and Filey, it is steep though as it’s a cliff. Worth noting that the beach directly below is not sandy but only a mile walk to Cayton Bay or quick drive to plenty of other lovely, sandy beaches. Can also be very windy though as it’s quite exposed. Plenty of less exposed pitches though if that worries you. There was a much quieter camping field lower down away from the cliff top which I suspect would have been less windy.
Pitches are not individually designated so you decide yourself where you want to pitch up when you arrive. Not a lot of flat ground available most is slightly angled due to the nature of the site, but not excessively so. We were very happy with our pitch. You are allowed one car on your pitch included in the price but can pay a small amount extra for an extra car too.
Hot running water a luxury for us (whilst camping) and nice clean toilets and showers. Although a little maintenance needed here and there. Washing up facilities with hot and cold running water available by the toilet block and drinking water points dotted around for filling bottles from etc.
The kids loved the pool even though it is quite small and they are quite big. We loved being able to send them on their own and having some peace and quiet to ourselves. (Can do this from aged 8 if you’re comfortable with that) Decent play park too although ours preferred to be in the pool so didn’t spend much time in it.
WiFi and reception levels perfectly adequate for most people’s needs I should think too although we only used phones for the occasional phone calls and texts and googling what the little island was we could see.
There is a little shop on site too with plenty of essentials in terms of food and camping equipment and a chippy, although we didn’t use that so can’t comment.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay here and would come back.
Disliked Generally speaking, the amenities were good and plentiful, although a little maintenance wouldn't go amiss.
The small toilet by the pool was clean and perfectly usable, but the fittings were showing some signs of rust and the lock was quite rusty. The taps were also running continuously and wouldn't switch off.
The main camping toilet block was nice and clean, with plenty of toilets and showers, but again a couple of the taps wouldn't turn off. There was also a leak or overflow somewhere, with water coming out from underneath one of the sink units and spreading across the floor. It wasn't a huge issue during our stay and certainly wouldn't put us off returning, but it's something that could easily be addressed.
The showers were free and had good water pressure, but the temperature fluctuated and they only stayed on for quite a short burst before needing to be pressed again.

From the manager: Thank you for your very detailed review, Catherine.
We are really pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and found Crows Nest clean, friendly and well located, with great views and plenty of facilities. It is lovely to know check in was quick and easy, the site felt family and dog friendly, and that you would come back.
We are glad the non designated camping worked well for you, and that you enjoyed the upper field views and coastal paths. As you mention, the cliff top can be windy and the ground is naturally slightly angled in places, but many guests enjoy being able to choose their own pitch.
We appreciate your comments regarding maintenance in the toilet and shower areas. The facilities are cleaned regularly and checked throughout the day, but we will take a look at the taps, fittings and any possible leaks you have mentioned.
It is also great to hear the children enjoyed the pool and play park, and that the shop, chippy, washing up areas, drinking water points and WiFi all added to your stay.
Thank you again for your balanced feedback and for recommending us. We hope to welcome you back to Crows Nest again soon.
