Acres of private fields for you to camp on at the hop farm
Camping by the woodland

  • Spacious park spread across 500 acres of Kent countryside
  • Five minutes' drive from Paddock Wood station and trains to London
  • Access to the River Medway for canoeing and fishing
Set in 500 acres of open fields and woodland, The Hop Farm is a huge site with plenty for guests to get stuck into. First of all, the river Medway flows through the park – so arrive by canoe if you like, or stick around on site for fishing and kayaking. Second, it has a friendly on-site pub with a nice and familiar menu full of pub classics. What else is there to like? Well, the site has a stunning backdrop of historic oast houses, the largest collection of Victorian-era oast houses in the world. It's easy to get to, being just a five-minute drive from Paddock Wood station and trains to London. Local shops and amenities are five minutes away by car too. Kent (aka The Garden of England) has many beaches, historic towns, forests, castles and stately homes (and gardens). The very scenic town of Royal Tunbridge Wells is 15 minutes' drive away from The Hop Farm. Tonbridge, a market town with a castle, shops and restaurants, is also 15 minutes away. The on-site facilities include a modern shower and toilet block. Dogs are welcome on site for an additional fee. You're welcome to bring your own barbecues and raised firepits to use here, as long as the ground conditions are good. The on-site shop also rents out firepits and stocks firewood (both are limited, so subject to availability).

Liked Very welcoming owner, we arrived late and had to call as soon as we arrived at the check in desk. Number to call is very clearly displayed on the front door so easy to find.
The owner was very quick at diving down to get us in. This was our first time at this campsite but she was very good and thorough at explaining everything for us.

The campsite was very spacious, and for a Saturday was very calm and peaceful. The toilets where very clean, and the campsite as a whole had a very nice welcoming atmosphere about it.

Would definitely recommend.

Disliked The only thing i disliked about this campsite was that the grass was quite long, it was a little uncomfortable to sit on and my dog kept losing her ball as it disappeared into the long grass.

From the manager: Thank you for choosing to stay here and for leaving a review as even negative ones help us to improve your stay.
Some of the fields were not cut before your stay and the long grass does take away the enjoyment of being here.
We look forward to welcoming you again, hopefully you can arrive earlier to enjoy a whole day before a relaxing evening.

A large family friendly site with plenty of green space to explore.

Powered concrete and grass site

Liked Great location with plenty to do locally, the site is large with nice walks and has some peaceful areas, and riverside walks, there’s a pub with friendly staff close by. Site staff were very friendly & helpful, facilities were clean. Mixed usage of site, from construction staff using some pitches during the week and some pitches are longer term, it’s family & dog friendly. On the whole it’s a good site.

Liked Hi Hop Farm Campsite Team,

I just wanted to say a big thank you for our stay from the 10th–12th of April. We came as a family and genuinely had a fantastic time, the whole experience was really enjoyable and well appreciated by all of us.

We also brought a fire pit with us, which made a great addition to the trip. It was perfect for cooking and keeping us warm in the evenings, and everyone really enjoyed gathering around it.

Thanks again for a lovely stay, we’ll definitely be back.

Liked Plenty of space. Solid clean facilities.

Disliked Pitches a little close together

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for taking the time to leave a review as they do help people when deciding where to stay.
When all of the electric pitches are in use they are close together.
There is a lot more space if on one of our non-electric fields and on many days some fields are still empty. Some guests use solar panels or power packs so they do not need electric hook ups and bring toilet tents for night time use to be in the quiet fields further away.
We look forward to seeing you again.

Liked Came for a one night car camp trip. Was able to park right next to shower and toilet facilities. Was quiet and the weather was on my side. On arrival reception was pleasant and welcoming. Explained where everything was. Walked around the fields and through a few of the river trails. I will definitely be back

Liked The pitches were spacious, the staff were friendly, particularly the lovely lady who kept the facilities clean! There are beautiful views across the field, and the lake is a lovely place to visit.

Disliked Nothing to dislike, but a park would be well-suited for all of the children that attend the site.

Local attractions

Kent has 350 miles of coastline, with watersports and those famous white cliffs at Dover. Whitstable and Herne Bay are popular with oyster eaters, anglers and jetskiers. There are umpteen options for families in the area including play centres, farms, horse riding and days out. Try Howletts Wild Animal Park in Canterbury, home to gorillas and operating experiences for visitors such as junior ranger days. Penshurst Place and Gardens has historical re-enactments, children’s trails, an adventure playground and special events during the school holidays. Both Leeds Castle at Maidstone and Hever Castle near Edenbridge are family-friendly and packed with activities and events. There’s a Go Ape! at Leeds Castle as well as two mazes, boat trips, falconry displays, underground grotto and the Knights' Realm Playground, a scale model of the castle (and a golf course and golf instruction for the grownups). Hever, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, has a yew maze and water maze, award-winning gardens and a topiary. Back with the big folk, the old market towns of Tonbridge, Maidstone, Sevenoaks and Tonbridge Wells are close by for shopping and sightseeing. Bluewater shopping centre is in Greenhithe (rival Lakewater is just over the Essex border at West Thurrock).
