  • Spacious park spread across 500 acres of Kent countryside
  • Five minutes' drive from Paddock Wood station and trains to London
  • Access to the River Medway for canoeing and fishing
Set in 500 acres of open fields and woodland, The Hop Farm is a huge site with plenty for guests to get stuck into. First of all, the river Medway flows through the park – so arrive by canoe if you like, or stick around on site for fishing and kayaking. Second, it has a friendly on-site pub with a nice and familiar menu full of pub classics. What else is there to like? Well, the site has a stunning backdrop of historic oast houses, the largest collection of Victorian-era oast houses in the world. It's easy to get to, being just a five-minute drive from Paddock Wood station and trains to London. Local shops and amenities are five minutes away by car too. Kent (aka The Garden of England) has many beaches, historic towns, forests, castles and stately homes (and gardens). The very scenic town of Royal Tunbridge Wells is 15 minutes' drive away from The Hop Farm. Tonbridge, a market town with a castle, shops and restaurants, is also 15 minutes away. The on-site facilities include a modern shower and toilet block. Dogs are welcome on site for an additional fee. You're welcome to bring your own barbecues and raised firepits to use here, as long as the ground conditions are good. The on-site shop also rents out firepits and stocks firewood (both are limited, so subject to availability).

What customers say

Spacious fields, great river access for water fun. Facilities clean, staff friendly. Some electric pitches are a bit cosy, and facilities can get busy. Great country walks nearby.

Unpowered grass site

Liked Lots of space, one can find a peaceful place even on a bank holiday. The further from the amenities the better experience. Nice having options for food onsite. And having the river and SUP for hire was great. Price is quite cheap too.

Disliked Some guests, mosquitos

Unpowered grass site

Liked Acres of space, even though the site was fully booked it felt far from that ! Respectful campers who kept the noise to a minimum after 10pm. Checking in process - the guy was friendly and polite and gave us a map of where we could not park- apart from a few crosses we could go anywhere , we liked the freedom of this.

Disliked Toilet floor was a bit mucky but what do you expect when you have a dusty field and lots of people using the facilities. Toilet/basin conditions good though.

Liked Only the weather it was good, thanks god

Disliked Its hard to go it to the water, or get out of it. The road was horrible too so many path holes. Our tent was near assholes sorry for my language but it was, they blame us for the noise when we wasn't making any. Talking to loud, are you serous?? You coming in to the field near water with your friends and cannot talk, because of some woman because she's pregnant? She got hormones and want a piece of quiet?? Then I would say it's not the right place for her to be in there. Sun same out 6am and its to hot to stay in the tent thats why we meet outside and have a chat. Then it was car to lound for them, music its too loud. manager not sure the woman told me to walk to the toilet what you are disable that cant walk to the toilet? Well i would say its not her business maybe my daughter cant told that much because we was quite far from the toilets, its doesn't matter that a lot of the people drives there with the car. Then she was saying that music its too loud when we ask really its music is too loud she said well no but you speaking to loud, really? Make up your mind woman! She was so rude and wasn't even listening what we try to tell her. Ban all 6 of us from here literally for no reason, doesn't matter that in another place of that field people was parting with the lound music. It was our fault that we wanted to spend nice time with friends and kids doesn't matter that we even wasn't drinking. Manager came and told us to take our staff and leave, one of your friends had another day to stay there, she told us that they need to leave too and they will give the refund fir that one day if we all leave before 11am leave the place nice and clean, and do you know what, we did and they didint give a refund for that day. Worst place ever, the manager I think she needs an a holiday from this job, she was so rude that even was shaking.

Liked Camping pitch and area very clean and tidy.

Disliked The toilet and shower facilities were disgusting this weekend. I understand it was very busy. But someone decided it was acceptable to be blocking the toilets with tissue. Also there was excrement smeared up the walls in the cubicle.

Liked Huge campsite so loads of spots to choose from. Shower & toilet facilities were modern. Pub on site which was great as well as some eating facilities. All staff were friendly that we encountered.

Disliked Shower and toilet facilities got dirty quickly, they were cleaned regularly however would benefit from extra floor cleans throughout the day.
More drinking water taps throughout the site would be good especially in the warmer weather.

Local attractions

Kent has 350 miles of coastline, with watersports and those famous white cliffs at Dover. Whitstable and Herne Bay are popular with oyster eaters, anglers and jetskiers. There are umpteen options for families in the area including play centres, farms, horse riding and days out. Try Howletts Wild Animal Park in Canterbury, home to gorillas and operating experiences for visitors such as junior ranger days. Penshurst Place and Gardens has historical re-enactments, children’s trails, an adventure playground and special events during the school holidays. Both Leeds Castle at Maidstone and Hever Castle near Edenbridge are family-friendly and packed with activities and events. There’s a Go Ape! at Leeds Castle as well as two mazes, boat trips, falconry displays, underground grotto and the Knights' Realm Playground, a scale model of the castle (and a golf course and golf instruction for the grownups). Hever, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, has a yew maze and water maze, award-winning gardens and a topiary. Back with the big folk, the old market towns of Tonbridge, Maidstone, Sevenoaks and Tonbridge Wells are close by for shopping and sightseeing. Bluewater shopping centre is in Greenhithe (rival Lakewater is just over the Essex border at West Thurrock).
