Great if quiet otherwise taken over by large groups playing loud music
Unpowered grass site
Liked Large fields, freedom of pitch location, loads of space between pitches in the camping pitch
Disliked Large groups playing loud music into early hours of the morning, would not recommend for people seeking relaxing stay or with young children with early bed times

From the manager: I am sorry you did not enjoy your 1 night stay due to noisy campers not adhering to the site rules.
We did a drive around the campsite from 9pm until 1130pm, there was one large group playing music and we asked them to turn the music off and to be respectful of other campers. It would appear that they turned the music back on, had we been called out we would have gone back to them, our mobile number is printed on the front of the cards which everyone is given when checking-in.
This is not a regular occurence and many guests enjoy their stay and return.
The size of the campground area,…
Unpowered grass site
Liked The size of the campground area, though there was a lot of people, the place was great and comfortable for the non electric pitches, a massive open space to camp anywhere. There is a river on the back that allows water activities, swimming, and walking along a path. Fantastic!

Nice area but management not great
Unpowered grass site
Liked The ladies toilet blocks and showers were clean
Nice area and not too busy
Disliked Stated on rules given at check in that there was a 10pm noise curfew. No one enforced this and on the first night we had kids screaming and shouting and flashing torches everywhere at 1am and the next night blasting music until gone midnight.
Also fire pit hire was available but they had no logs so had to go to the local coop to get some instead.
Lack of children’s play area - would be great addition to have a play park somewhere on site.
The men’s facilities were not as well kept as the ladies

From the manager: Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for taking the time to leave a review.
On the Friday we were out patrolling from 10pm until 1130pm and the Saturday from 9pm until 1130pm enforcing the rules, we do not drive near anyone that are sitting quietly or whose camp is in darkness. Regrettably it would appear that some guests did not adhere to the campsite rules and started being noisy after this time. When every one checks in we point out the mobile number printed on the front of cards given saying this is to be used for any issues whilst on site(no one called us to notify of us of any noise or we would have come out again).
There is no play park since the closure of The Hop Farm over 3 years ago which is why it is not advertised.
All of the facilities are thoroughly cleaned, it would appear from your comments that the men are not as good at tidying up after themselves.
Hopefully your next visit will be problem free.

A lovely place to camp and enjoy the river
Unpowered grass site
Liked The Americas field is a great space for all, being right on the river
All the toilet, shower, washing, rubbish and water facilities are also good
Disliked The unmade road access to the Americas field it disastrous for those vehicles other than off roaders, come on Hop Farm a little gravel to fill in some of those enormous pot holes and roller coaster highs and lows is surely affordable

The road way was repaired a few months ago, the need to address this again will be passed on to the management team.
We look forward to welcoming you again.
