  • Water- and land-based event centre in 270 acres of parkland
  • Easy access to Nottingham city centre, rail network and airport
  • Country walks, nature trails and lots to do for kids on site
What do you reckon is the main flavour of activities at this Nottinghamshire site? Yup, top of the menu at the Holme Pierrepont Country Park, near Nottingham, are all sorts of watersports: you'll be able to tackle a whitewater course for canoeing, kayaking, rafting and tubing; paddleboarding; and open-top canoeing. This is a land-based activity centre too, so if you don't fancy plunging into the foamy depths or would quite like to stay dry for a day, other options can be tackled at the outdoor adventure zone where there's an aerial adventure course, miniature golf, a kids' activity club and archery combat. A large play park, country walks and nature zones are also on site (please note some activities are subject to availability and must be booked at reception; early booking is advisable). Feeling a bit faint just from reading all this, and think you'd rather spectate? The centre has kindly included a country park café and a regatta lake where it hosts its own events like rowing and canoe regattas, dragonboat racing and triathlons. Lots are on offer too to keep the kids amused, including a woodland adventure playground and a nature trail, a short stroll away. Although all this energetic excellence is only 10 minutes' drive from Nottingham city centre, it's well into the countryside and away from anything townie, as it's deep in the 270 acres of parkland of Holme Pierrepont Country Park. The campsite part of the park covers 18 acres and has a facilities block with showers and toilets, and a site shop selling selected groceries and camping supplies.

What customers say

Great spot near Nottingham & water sports. Reviewers love the spacious sites, friendly staff & easy check-in. While generally clean with good facilities, some mention dated/untidy loos. Still a popular family choice for its vibe & access to fun.

Liked Its a great site for most pitches with a good location to the water sports centre. Family friendly, dog friendly and decent size pitches. Showers were hot

Disliked Our pitch was close to the road side so we found it a little noisy when trying to sleep.
The shop on site doesn't offer a good variety of produce.
Shower and toilet block a little outdated mostly clean but occasionally dirty.

Liked Location was great to walk down to the river to see the boats. The rafters area where we stayed was nice enough

Disliked The toilets and showers was only cleaned once per day. They then shut the water off half way through washing my daughters hair so this had to be washed out using the water in the tent. My partner went to the shower blocks in the next field which only had 2 showers working. Then the next day 2 out of 4 showers on our field was out of order

Liked Big site, with plenty to do around. Not far to drive to local shops too.

Disliked Facilities were not great at all. Nowhere to change babies, which made things very difficult with a little one, luckily the weather was nice as we had to bath and change baby in a paddling pool at the tent. Showers were either scolding hot and no way of changing the temperature or freezing cold in the second shower block. The showers were constantly blocked, meaning the water was backing up and you had to stand in water up to your ankles.
The shower blocks were also very dirty, we were there for 4 days and didn't once notice them being cleaned, with how busy it was this should have been done several times throughout the day.
Also most campsites that we have stayed on have had communal fridges/freezers for ice packs etc, there wasn't any here and the electric cut out twice whilst we were there, so this would have been good to have especially in the warmer weather.

Liked Lovely clean campsite. We had a fantastic bank holiday weekend. It's a friendly site with lots of families. We had our own shower etc so cant comment on the shower facilities. However we did use the toilets whilst the children were on the park and found them to be fine. Great location for walks, watersports, cycling and close enough to walk into town. We will definitely return.

Disliked We couldn't stay longer due to work.

Liked I have given 5 stars purely because we were given a full refund as we could not stay due to travellers on the site. We were only advised on Friday morning so spent a considerable amount of time trying to find that needle in a haystack BH 3 day break on the hottest May BH since the records began. We did manage to find someone and my heart did go out to the site owners. They must have lost a lot of customers/cash this weekend

Disliked Can’t say as didn’t stay

Liked The location for access to Nottingham is great, the pitches are clean and well kept. Very good walking routes along the Trent river.

Disliked Large groups on the site with little or no regard for the site rules or basic manners, towards the other campers. There was an almost dangerous use of vehicles between nearby areas of the site, at all hours, vehicles parked anywhere with no regards to other campers. Probably most disturbing was some of the music being played from vehicles was politically motivated. Specifically republican songs.

Liked Great location, easy to get to Nottingham sauna cold plunge
Good sized flat pitches, shop.

Disliked Toilets/shower block, no water on final morning, too many people for the 8 toilets/shower rooms, no loo roll in some toilets by early evening. Need more toilets and showers.
Only one water point for Rafters field.

Wildlife watchers can wander around Skylarks Nature Reserve, owned by Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, highly recommended by the Holme Pierrepont Country Park team and 15 minutes' drive from the site.
