General
- Dog-friendly site in Vaud, three kilometres from the Vallorbe Caves
- A 10-minute drive from Lake Brenet and 25 minutes to Yverdon-les-Bains
- Refreshment bar, swimming pool, playground and pétanque court on site
Hunt down minerals and chase an underground river through limestone caves… and then re-emerge into a pleasant green escape at Camping de Vallorbe. Three kilometres from the Vallorbe Caves, this dog-friendly site is a five-minute drive from the caves' underground lake. And at the same time, it has lovely views of the surrounding mountains in Vaud and the lakeside beaches of Yverdon-les-Bains are 25 minutes' drive away.
Climb the surrounding summits (there are three mountains within 45 minutes’ drive of the site), go for a swim in Lake Brenet (10 minutes' drive) or sail out onto Lake Joux (15 minutes). No matter how far you go, you can always continue the activity on the site too. Cultivate some competitive spirit with a game of pétanque or see who can do the most laps around the heated outdoor swimming pool.
When you're ready for a rest, there are lots of pleasant places to unwind around the site, including a refreshment bar, outdoor playground (if the kids are still lively) and patches of greenery where you can lay back and take in the mountain views.
Conveniently, there are several food shops, restaurants, cafés and bars within walking distance of the site, plus a water point too, including riverside eateries if you fancy a sweet water view. You’ll also feel nicely connected to other local towns, as the town has a train station 10 minutes’ walk away.

Local attractions
No need to go too far… take a tour around the iron and railway museum at Musée du Fer et du Chemin de Fer (five minutes’ walk), which has forges for kids to play in and a miniature train. Juraparc (five minutes’ drive) is also close by. This large animal park is home to wolves, bears and bison or softer animals such as goats and alpacas that the kids can interact with.
Mountains galore… the area is full of huge bumps and ridges in the land, several of which are great for hiking, climbing or mountain biking. Dent de Vaulion (15 minutes) is the closest mountain to the site, while the peaks at Le Suchet (half an hour), Aiguilles de Baulmes (35 minutes) and Mont Tendre (45 minutes) are also within reach.
Feel rather like you’re defending the mountain pass at the Pré-Giroud Military Fort (10 minutes’ drive), now a heritage building you can walk around.
If you’re looking for more great hiking trails, La Tine de Conflens (20 minutes) has a path to a rocky waterfall. When you feel like a more leisurely stroll, the lakeside town of Yverdon-les-Bains (25 minutes) has beaches and the medieval Grandson Castle (half an hour).

Bonjour,
Cordialement
Aurelie
