Costa Brava, here you come – and if you’re clever, you’ll nab a pitch at Camping Vall d’Or, the only campsite overlooking the sandy beach at Platja d’Aro. This family-friendly spot has been welcoming guests for more than 50 years, so they must be doing something right. So what is it that they’re doing so well? Well, for starters there’s an enthusiastic team at reception ready to help you out in any way possible, and an eco-market with breakfast goodies, foodie treats and local produce for sale (plus a delivery service right to your pitch). You can catch the rays with a glass of something chilled at one of the terrace bars – and attend themed events and DJ sessions after nightfall – or dine on tapas and seafood paella in the restaurant. There’s a games area and organised sporty stuff to keep the kids entertained, while you have a go at Zumba or Pilates on the beach. And if you feel that you need a pamper after running around in the sun, book a treatment at the massage cabin. If the spectacular beachfront setting and all those facilities are not enough to convince you about Camping Vall d’Or, you may like to know that Port d’Aro marina is five minutes’ walk away for leisurely strolls around the yachts. If you want to up the night-time tempo a bit, Ocine Platja d’Aro mall (10 minutes’ walk) has a cinema, bowling alley and nightclub.

Liked Emplacement plat à l’ombre près des sanitaires au calme et surtout la mer à quelques mètres du campement. Personnel à l’écoute et super gentil. La belle vie quoi. Vivement la prochaine fois.
On vient en Juin donc pas d’animation.

Disliked Les mouettes qui crient le matin 🤣 mais bon ça va c’était juste pour dire un truc négatif.

Liked Accueil super, emplacement correct, sanitaires très bien. Très proche de la plage et de la ville.
Et un grand bravo pour la personne qui nettoie plusieurs fois par jour les sanitaires.

Disliked Dommage pas de brosse dans les toilettes pour nettoyer le fond étant donné et malgré certains commentaires se sont bien les adultes qui laissent leur merde (il n'y avait pas d'enfants) et certains sont vraiment de gros porc, j'aimerais bien savoir si chez eux ils font pareil.

Liked Lekker rustige camping, in mei geen kinderen aanwezig. Ligt vlak aan zee en dichtbij het centrum met mooie en leuke winkels.

Disliked De ligging van sommige plekken. In een kuil en bij hevige stortregens waren deze plekken helemaal onder water gelopen. Wij zijn daarom van plek verhuisd.

Disliked Alles im voraus für drei Wochen bezahlt und keine Rückerstattung als wir in die Klinik gehen mussten nach einer Woche
Geschäft war geschlossen
Gebucht mit Seeblick kein Seeblick auf dem Platz 7. Stromhoecksttariff bezahlt bekommen nur 6 amper. Keine Kaffeemaschine und keine Klimaanlage.

There’s lots to keep active families occupied around Platja d’Aro. There are a couple of tennis clubs within 10 minutes’ walk, Skatepark Platja d’Aro (15 minutes) for skateboarders, and rope courses or zipwires at Costa Brava Parc Aventura Platja d’Aro (five minutes’ drive). Teach the kids the basics of golf at Pitch and Putt Mas Torrellas (10 minutes) or while away the afternoon on the thrill rides at Pp’s Park Platja d’Aro (15 minutes’ walk). To see a little more of the region, rent a motorboat from the marina (five minutes) to explore beaches and hidden coves up and down the Mediterranean coastline. Should you feel the need to stir from beachfront Platja d’Aro altogether, head to historic Girona (40 minutes’ drive) to explore the labyrinthine El Call quarter, walk the ramparts for views of the cathedral and spot the city's Game of Thrones locations. Alternatively, spend the day in Barcelona (an hour and 15 minutes) to watch the street theatre on Las Ramblas, graze your way around the tapas bars of La Boqueria food market and tour Antoni Gaudí’s extraordinary Sagrada Família cathedral.
