It’s so utterly peaceful at Agrohaczów za Rzeką that you may well feel you’ve stepped back in time on arrival. This family-run agritourism site is on a small farm five minutes’ drive from the historic village of Haczów in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship – it’s a very rural spot bordering a stream, with grass pitches surrounded by deciduous trees and gardens colourfully planted with shrubs, herbs and flowers.
Chances are you’ll wake to the sound of birdsong and hear little else during the day except the rustling of leaves – it’s all very conducive to relaxing, helped along by strategically placed hammocks for lazing away warm afternoons and a spa zone with a sauna and Jacuzzi. Also dotted around the grounds are a couple of firepits and barbecues, plus picnic tables for alfresco eating. There’s a large supermarket in Haczów, where you can pick up anything you’ll need foodwise too.
Kids can have a bounce around on the trampoline, and dogs can be exercised on walks through the property’s woods (you might meet some farm animals too). The list of practical on-site amenities is not vast, but does incorporate drinking water drawn from a well, a washing-up sink, a hot shower and a sauna – the latter two incur an extra charge.

Local attractions
The 14th-century UNESCO-listed church in Haczów (five minutes’ drive) may be first on your sightseeing schedule – it’s one of the largest Gothic-style wooden churches in Europe. Go inside to admire the frescoed walls and the gilded, baroque-era religious paintings.
Another historic place well worth your time is gorgeous Krosno (20 minutes). Start your exploration in the medieval central square, lined with pastel-coloured houses, and be sure to visit Kamienica Wójtowska cultural museum, the Franciscan monastery and the Glass Heritage Centre, honouring the city’s long glass-making tradition.
Subcarpathian industrial heritage is celebrated at the Museum of Oil and Gas Industry in Bóbrka (25 minutes), where you can tour the world’s oldest still-extant oil mine. If the kids are getting grumpy with all this culture, treat them to a day running around in the tree canopy at the Rope Adventure Park (20 minutes).
