  • Dog-friendly site 15 minutes from Venice by bus
  • A 10-minute drive from shops and restaurants in Mestre
  • Reception open 24 hours; bus stop within walking distance
Venice: home to gondolas, teeny streets, a most grand canal and the Rialto Bridge… and often pretty steep hotel prices. Have at it in a smart way with a stay at Camping Rialto, a dog-friendly site surrounded by greenery about 10 minutes' drive from mainland centre Mestre, and about 15 minutes by bus from the Venice city sights (with a handy bus stop within walking distance of the site and services running through till late evening). Buses run frequently between Venice and Mestre (including during the night), so settle down on site after a long day of Venice sightseeing. During summer only, there is a swimming pool and a pool bar open for relaxing dips punctuated with snacks and cool drinks. Later on, move on for drinks and a pizza at the bar-pizzeria-restaurant (open during high season only), which faces the prettily well-maintained garden – and then settle there again in the morning with an Italian coffee or cappuccino…

What customers say

This campsite offers excellent value and a prime location for visiting Venice, with a bus stop directly outside providing a quick 10-minute journey. Guests praise the friendly and helpful staff, the clean facilities, and the enjoyable swimming pool with its bar area. The convenience of a nearby Lidl supermarket is also frequently highlighted. While generally well-regarded, some visitors mention that pitches can be a little cramped and that certain facilities show signs of wear.

Electric grass tent pitch (no cars)

Liked Everything was average at best. Lidl across road was handy.

Disliked No water fountains around the camp- must go to laundry block. Flood lights stay on at night so if you’re in a tent it feels like the day time. Restaurant staff were pushy and not very pleasant, fine enough I guess but not a comfortable meal. It also flooded while we were there! The first night there was heavy rain and the handyman went around in the morning and pulled up one drain grate to drain the massive puddle that had gathered at 10 in the morning. The next day the entire camp flooded and there was zero duty of care demonstrated by the staff. No one came around clearing drains (they started clearing drains once the sun came out 5 hours later) or checking on people who’s tents and campers were flooding and the staff on the front desk weren’t compassionate or sympthetic to several peoples needs. We thankfully were very self reliant and didn’t ask for any assistance as I feel like we would have been met with a whole lot of ‘not my problem’ attitude.

From the manager: Dear Guest,
thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us.
We are truly sorry that everything was so unpleasant.
We are even more sorry that it was not understood that the flood which affected us impacted the entire province and beyond. If the drainage operations within the campsite were delayed, it was because everything around and outside the campsite was blocked.
Clearing the drains inside the campsite was pointless if it wasn’t possible to discharge into the external system.
All the campsite staff immediately got to work, giving priority to guests who were in greater difficulty, and the bar offered a round of coffee or hot tea to everyone passing by. Unfortunately, such extreme weather conditions could not have been foreseen.
We’re sorry that the situation was not fully understood. Nevertheless, we will take your feedback to heart and hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again in the future.

Liked Reception staff and cleaners were lovely...

Disliked Where to begin...location...an industrial estate opposite a car dealers....charming.
Electric...6 amps.....not even enough to power a kettle let alone lighting and a fridge... couldn't even turn the motorhome on.
Pool area...if you like holiday camps with blaring techno drum and bass then it can be yours ....
The toilets and showers....vile....not to fault the poor cleaners but the type of "clientele" that go there that are incredibly filthy with no shame...
To top it off we are riddled with insect bites...head to toe....

Staff is great!

Disliked It seems like there’s not much privacy in toilets. Also, there’s no hot water to wash the dishes. Pitches are not seprated at all and access to electricoty is not very convenient.

Local attractions

The centre of Venice is less than 10 kilometres or a 15-minute bus ride/12 minutes by train from Camping Rialto: once in town, take a vaporetto or water bus to stop off wherever you fancy, or just start a-wandering; the signs all around for Rialto and San Marco will keep you on the right track (or you could take it easy by cruising along the Grand Canal on a vaporetto…) The islands of Murano, Burano and Torcella are also popular stops on the Venice tourist trail, as is a cruise along the Riviera del Brenta to gawp at the lavishness of the villas and gardens along its route from Venice to Padova. Mestre, about 10 minutes' drive away, has plenty of shops and restaurants that are generally cheaper than those in Venice, and both Padova and Treviso are within about 20 minutes by car. Verona, Padova and Treviso are all easy to get to by train from Venice station as well.
