General

  • A short walk from Mestre and 15 minutes from Venice by bus
  • Bar/pizzeria with colourful terrace
  • Amenities open at all times

Venice! Home of gondolas, teeny streets, a most grand canal and the Rialto Bridge... and often pretty steep hotel prices. Have at it in a smart way with a Venice campsite stay instead such as at Camping Rialto, surrounded by green, a short walk from mainland centre Mestre and about 15 minutes by bus from the Venice city sights.

Buses run frequently between Venice and Mestre, including during the night, so settle down on site after a long day of Venice sightseeing, perhaps for a drink and a pizza at the colourful terrace of the bar/pizzeria that faces the prettily well-maintained garden – then again in the morning with an Italian coffee or cappuccino...

Camping Rialto has wifi, a mini market selling fruit, veg, bread and other essentials, and laundry facilities and other amenities open at all times. As is reception: staff are available to help guests at any time, whether you arrive late at night or early in the morning.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Group bookings of 25 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

Reliable bus route into Venice and good size pitches.

    Disliked:

If your a backpacker who is using the trains to get about and want to walk to the site it will take you a good 2hrs and some is on a dual carriage way.. trust me not fun. You have to pay for the Wi-Fi (€2 for 24hrs). Although the campsite can't help it but there were lots of mosquitoes so we got bitten a lot. Minimum payment on the card machine is €50 so it was great that they took €10 off our payment as we didn't have a car but was then told as the remaining balance is now under €50 We couldn't then pay on card.

Great location. Nice restaurant. Beware of mosquitoes! 05/09/2016

Really good location for getting bus to Venice (although prepare for sardine effect on the bus). Also LIDL across the road very handy!
    Site is nicely laid out.

    Disliked:

Our pitch was a bit small for both tent and car but we were able to park nearby. Our pitch had some road noise but otherwise site quite quiet.
Toilet blocks clean but only site out of many we have visited that did not supply toilet roll or soap.
Only reason for low score is mosquitoes. Although this is difficult to change, it perhaps wasn't helped by farmer cutting his grass!

    1) Quite easy to get to Venice centre. A short bus journey outside the site will take you directly there. Buses run every 15 minutes, the staff was helpful enough to give us the timetable so we know roughly what time we have to get to the bus stop by.

    2) Lidl is within walking distance, 2 minutes up the road where you can get dirt cheap food and refreshments.

    3) Loads of shower rooms (no queue generally, but that depends on the time you go in. In the morning around 10 there's usually a queue due to check out). Showers and toilets are generally very clean.

4)Staff are great, they are very helpful when you need assistant.

    5) Security is high as they check your ticket when you enter the site.

    Disliked:

    1) Quite expensive for basic accommodation. We stayed for 2 nights in our own tent so the 'pitch' given to us was 5x5m and for that size it was £56 minus the deposit and fees.

    2) As travellers, we don't really think about getting a specific adapter to use in a campsite. However, if you want to charge your devices you will need to purchase a specific adapter (around 10 euro) then another adapter for your own use.

    3) I was not particular happy with paying for wifi. Even if its 2 euro for 24 hours per devices. If I was paying that price I expect it comes with free wifi, and also the wifi is only detectable at the bar area.

    4)SOFTER GROUNDS WOULD BE GREAT.

in my booking paper it was information that we would have car, so i expect that the prices involves some money for car. And it was unpleasant suprise when they charge money for car after we spent night there.

Local attractions

The centre of Venice is less than 10km or a 15-minute bus ride/12 minutes by train from Camping Rialto: once in town, take a vaporetto or water bus to stop off wherever you fancy, or just start a-wandering; the signs all around for Rialto and San Marco will keep you on the right track.

The islands of Murano, Burano and Torcella are also popular stops on the Venice tourist trail, as is a cruise along the Riviera del Brenta to gasp at the lavishness of the villas and gardens along its route from Venice to Padova.

Mestre a short walk away has plenty of shops and restaurants generally cheaper than those in Venice, and both Padova and Treviso are within about 20 minutes by car.
