  • Dog-friendly site 15 minutes from Venice by bus
  • A 10-minute drive from shops and restaurants in Mestre
  • Reception open 24 hours; bus stop within walking distance
Venice: home to gondolas, teeny streets, a most grand canal and the Rialto Bridge… and often pretty steep hotel prices. Have at it in a smart way with a stay at Camping Rialto Village, a dog-friendly site surrounded by greenery about 10 minutes' drive from mainland centre Mestre, and about 15 minutes by bus from the Venice city sights (with a handy bus stop within walking distance of the site and services running through till late evening). Buses run frequently between Venice and Mestre (including during the night), so settle down on site after a long day of Venice sightseeing. During summer only, there is a swimming pool and a pool bar open for relaxing dips punctuated with snacks and cool drinks. Later on, move on for drinks and a pizza at the bar-pizzeria-restaurant (open during high season only), which faces the prettily well-maintained garden – and then settle there again in the morning with an Italian coffee or cappuccino…

What customers say

Great location for Venice! Bus stop outside, frequent service. Pool, bar, restaurant a hit. Friendly staff often praised, but some noted sanitary facility issues and needed upkeep. Pitches can be small and noisy from the road.

Liked Nothing, absolutely nothing. We left within an hour of arriving.

Disliked From the beginning the staff were rude. They did not like being challenged when I said I would not leave my passport as security. They insinuated that if I didn’t leave passport I should leave €50.00 cash just in case I stayed longer than I had booked. The staff member I spoke to needs a lesson in service.

The pitches are small, the place is in need of some sort of revamp.

The pool area looked nice enough. However, the final straw that made us decide to leave was the atmosphere of the pool area, certainly not somewhere I would want to spend time with my kids. A large group of blokes drinking jugs of beer with very loud music was not the type of welcoming vibe.

This place could really improve just by setting some ground rules and improving initial contacts with customers. My mind was made up within 60 seconds of speaking to front of house.

We went elsewhere (Hu Open Venice), had a brilliant time at an immaculate site.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen, Hosseini Said Asadullah

Liked Location and links to Venice

Disliked Size of the pitches were not appropriate for the size of the vehicles booked for. Next to nowhere to sit with a table, some were the size of a car parking space for a camper van.
Pool too busy and chaotic, I think locals can pay to attend so there were more than just the people from the site.
Bugs and insects were extreme that was our 4 th campsite of the holiday in Italy and we were bitten so badly and overrun by bugs, the place felt dirty. The bins were overflowing and the toilets and showers were not clean especially the men’s.
Pictures did not match reality, we left 2 nights early after only staying one night.

Liked The pool is nice if you like hoards of people and loud music. But when it’s 38 degrees the water was amazing! It’s close to Venice and the bus is outside the gate which was very easy.

Staff at reception eventually accepted we wanted to leave and were pleasant.

Disliked Pitch 5. Right next to the entrance gate, restaurant and toilets and full afternoon sun. Inside the camper hit 46 degrees C! Basically not somewhere you want to be, ever. Tried to ask reception for a different pitch, lots of empty ones but was told NO. You cannot move. We checked out the next day and forced them to refund via the pitch up terms.

Local attractions

The centre of Venice is less than 10 kilometres or a 15-minute bus ride/12 minutes by train from Camping Rialto Village: once in town, take a vaporetto or water bus to stop off wherever you fancy, or just start a-wandering; the signs all around for Rialto and San Marco will keep you on the right track (or you could take it easy by cruising along the Grand Canal on a vaporetto…) The islands of Murano, Burano and Torcella are also popular stops on the Venice tourist trail, as is a cruise along the Riviera del Brenta to gawp at the lavishness of the villas and gardens along its route from Venice to Padova. Mestre, about 10 minutes' drive away, has plenty of shops and restaurants that are generally cheaper than those in Venice, and both Padova and Treviso are within about 20 minutes by car. Verona, Padova and Treviso are all easy to get to by train from Venice station as well.
