Camping Cortina: Around the site

General

  • Family- and dog-friendly site on the Adriatic coast
  • Less than a minute’s walk to golden sands and a dog beach
  • Beach volleyball, beach tennis and kite surfing school on site

Sun, sand and surf ahoy! You won’t want to forget your swimming cossie when packing for your hols at Camping Cortina, a family- and dog-friendly site 10 minutes’ drive from the centre of Senigallia port town, in the Ancona region of Marche.

On the Adriatic coast, Cortina’s a fab spot for a beachy getaway: the site’s a minute’s walk from Senigallia’s Velvet Beach where you can stroll the golden sands, put your bucket and spade to good use or nab a lounger and soak up the sun. You don’t have to leave Rex languishing back at base either, as the site team runs the Scooby.Doo dog beach a quick stroll away.

The seaside excursions don’t stop when you leave the lounger: at the Cortina-run Bayha Blanca, have a go at beach volleyball and beach tennis or, if you’re slightly more of a thrill-seeker, sign up for the kite surfing school. Back on site, there’s five-a-side football and table tennis, or you can hire a bike to explore around Senigallia.

After a day of activity on the Italian coast, you’re probably craving some mix of pizza and seafish – by a wild coincidence, that’s exactly what the on-site restaurant serves, so swim on over to get your fill. If you’d prefer to take care of yourself, stock up at the small shop on site then get to grilling on the barbecue, or grab a table at one of the restaurants within 15 minutes of Cortina.

Please note

Onsite entertainment will not be offered due to restrictions imposed by the coronavirus outbreak.

The bar is open between 28/05 and 11/09.

Your dog must be tattooed or microchipped.

A charge of €0.50 (£0.42) applies for the use of the shower.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Protective masks must be worn at all times in common areas.

The play area is closed due to restrictions imposed by the coronavirus outbreak.

Closeness to the beach. Good for families with dogs as there is a dog only part to the beach and the dog facilities were great. Better than the humans.

    Disliked:

Extremely fast and loud train on the back of the camp. Not mentioned on website. Kept us awake all night. Need to pay for showers. Clean enough facilities but very smelly as bins are in the same area. Pizza restaurant advertised on camp but it doesn't sell pizzas.

Eine Zugschiene verläuft genau neben dem Campingplatz. Abends wenn man schlafen will etwas störend.

Local attractions

When you’re ready to step away from the beach for some exploration, start in Senigallia, where you can wander the streets, visit the 15th-century Rocca Roveresca fortress, see the Roman remains beneath La Fenice theatre, relive bygone times at Palazzeto Baviera and, most importantly, try some award-winning chocolate ice cream at Gelateria Brunelli.

Time your visit well and you’ll be around for Senigallia’s Summer Jamboree, a festival celebrating the music and culture of 1940s and ‘50s USA – bring your dancing shoes, as you’ll definitely want to join in. If the kids are tiring of the olden days, you can bring them screeching back into the modern world with a stop at Mini Gran Prix for a spin around the track.

Leaving Senigallia behind, trips to Fano and Corinaldo (both half an hour’s drive away) come highly recommended – the former for its cathedral and churches, Roman walls and the Malatesto Court, and the latter for its stunningly scenic streets and houses, and journey to get there along roads (depending on when you’re visiting) lined with sunflowers.

Stray from the urban with nature-filled trips to Monte San Bartolo, Gola della Rossa e di Frasassi and Conero Regional Natural Parks, all within 45 minutes of Camping Cortina.
