Thermal Camping Zalakaros

You’ll want to spend some time checking out the thermal baths, of course, but there are plenty of other ways to fill your days nearby, whether it's touring lookouts or going hiking, Nordic walking or cycling. For starters, hire bikes or electric bikes in town to explore the scenic local lanes, or try the short walks near the town before tackling longer outings to areas like Kőszikla Gorge (25 minutes’ drive) or the nature reserve around Little Balaton (15 minutes). There are lots of birds to be spotted around the wetlands at Little Balaton, but if you’d like to see something bigger, head to Buffalo reserve Zalakomár (15 minutes), for jeep rides and horse-drawn carriage rides among the biggest herd in the country. Állatsimogató - Fenyvespuszta (15 minutes) is another good choice, with pony rides and a petting zoo. Beyond Little Balaton is the huge Lake Balaton itself – a wonderful place to visit with beach areas and watersports galore, plus the chance to visit places like the grand Festetics Palace (35 minutes).
