Great outdoor swimming pool and paddling pool for the little ones

General

  • Family park on the edge of the Black Forest
  • Pirate ship playground plus other play areas and a toddlers' spot
  • Pool, sunbathing lawn, tennis court and restaurant

Shiver your timbers… there are lots of leisure options on offer for the family at Campingpark Oase, 20 minutes' stroll from Eittenheim in Baden-Württemberg's Ortenaukreis district.

For here you'll find a swimming pool and a pool for tiddlers, a tennis court, and a large lawn for sunbathing, reading, supping a German beer and showing your other half what's what at Scrabble, as well as (an utter fave of small visitors) a playground with a splendid pirate ship. And as Campingpark Oase is at the edge of the excellent Black Forest, deep in Germany's scenic south west and close to the border with France, there's quite a bit to do off site too, me hearties…

The site has modern shower and toilet facilities and a small grocery store. A couple of other playground areas are to hand as well as the one with the pirate ship, including one for smaller tiddlers that has a covered sandpit.

The Löffler's Park restaurant with sun terrace serves traditional food from the region, many Mediterranean dishes, wine, beer and ice cream. Takeaway is available too.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

Group bookings of 8 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

A charge of €0.50 (£0.43) applies for the use of the shower.

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 15/05 and 11/09 (subject to weather conditions).

Twin axle vehicles are not permitted on site.

The site is clean, peaceful and well run.
It is next to a pool and park which were excellent.
Facilities good, the shop was basic but you have supermarkets close by.
The area is beautiful and close to surrounding places to visit.

    Disliked:

The pitches are are gravely, my only minor window was it brought dust in the van - I just had to sweep up more :)

An attractive site with good pitches and helpful reception staff05/09/2019

Our fully serviced pitch was excellent. The toilet block was modern and kept very clean. All the reception staff spoke good English and were very helpful. There is a good restaurant opposite the site and a superb 'municipal' swimming pool next door.
The site is located close to the small attractive town of Ettenheim, and many interesting places to visit are within easy travelling distance.

    Disliked:

    Just a few niggles:
You have to pay for the showers.
If you trip the electricity you have to get someone from reception to come and switch it on again, which is a bit of an inconvenience.

The location is perfect for the black forest and a good base for a few days. The staff are helpful and they have a well stocked shop, including ice cream which was needed in the heat.

    Disliked:

Its a busy site and we were right near the kids play area which was a little noisy at times, late into the evening. Toilets and shower areas could be cleaner but it was fine. You have to pay to use the pool at 3 Euros per person, but they offer a weekly ticket of 25 Euros if staying longer.

Fabulous staff, very helpful. We booked 3 nights but due to mechanical failure of our motorhome we had to cancel 2 nights. We kept the wardens updated and they were very helpful. The campsite was quiet with segregated pitches that had electric and water. Very clean and well maintained site. Black Forest absolutely gorgeous. Going back next year and booking same site. Restaurant adjacent to site, really good food, but they don't take cards (they have had problems).

    Disliked:

Arrived very late but we had been told to to park in carpark overninght but no electric supplied, the problem is that the big rubbish bins next to car park stank. As temp 37.5 had to have windows open, not pleasant.

Provided washing liquid for laundry and moved it into dryer and folded it. People were nice and office was open when needed.

    Disliked:

Expensive when arrived and then they charged 50c for a 7 minute shower and 7.50 for a load of washing, extra for power.

From the manager...

The booking was made without a reqeust for power connection.
On arrival the family wanted electrical supply and this was charged additionally - as usual on every campsite electrical power is not for free.

Local attractions

Campingpark Oase is close to the Black Forest, which quite frankly you could get happily lost in for several weeks.

Among the many recommended foresty highlights are the waterfalls in Triberg, the German Clock Museum in Furtwangen (clockmaking is quite A Thing in the forest), the Vogtsbauernhöfe or Black Forest Open Air Museum, glass blowing and the museum in Wolfach… and the rivers, mountains and heaps of German trad cuisine…

Over the border in France, seventh-century Mont Sainte-Odile Abbey, now a convent, is a landmark stop on the French side of the Vosges mountain range. Also highly recommended by the Oase team are a visit to Colmar on the Alsatian Wine Route and the Cité de l’Automobile (or National Automobile Museum) at Mulhouse, both just over an hour away, and European capital Strasbourg within 50 minutes.

Europa-Park, Germany's biggest theme park, is within easy driving distance at 20 minutes – and after a day getting dizzy here, you might welcome the blessed peace and quiet of the Taubergiessen nature reserve. Affenwald and Adlerwarte are well worth a look as well.
