It's free, quick and easy!
- Family park on the edge of the Black Forest
- Pirate ship playground plus other play areas and a toddlers' spot
- Pool, sunbathing lawn, tennis court and restaurant
Shiver your timbers… there are lots of leisure options on offer for the family at Campingpark Oase, 20 minutes' stroll from Eittenheim in Baden-Württemberg's Ortenaukreis district.
For here you'll find a swimming pool and a pool for tiddlers, a tennis court, and a large lawn for sunbathing, reading, supping a German beer and showing your other half what's what at Scrabble, as well as (an utter fave of small visitors) a playground with a splendid pirate ship. And as Campingpark Oase is at the edge of the excellent Black Forest, deep in Germany's scenic south west and close to the border with France, there's quite a bit to do off site too, me hearties…
The site has modern shower and toilet facilities and a small grocery store. A couple of other playground areas are to hand as well as the one with the pirate ship, including one for smaller tiddlers that has a covered sandpit.
The Löffler's Park restaurant with sun terrace serves traditional food from the region, many Mediterranean dishes, wine, beer and ice cream. Takeaway is available too.

Local attractions
Campingpark Oase is close to the Black Forest, which quite frankly you could get happily lost in for several weeks.
Among the many recommended foresty highlights are the waterfalls in Triberg, the German Clock Museum in Furtwangen (clockmaking is quite A Thing in the forest), the Vogtsbauernhöfe or Black Forest Open Air Museum, glass blowing and the museum in Wolfach… and the rivers, mountains and heaps of German trad cuisine…
Over the border in France, seventh-century Mont Sainte-Odile Abbey, now a convent, is a landmark stop on the French side of the Vosges mountain range. Also highly recommended by the Oase team are a visit to Colmar on the Alsatian Wine Route and the Cité de l’Automobile at Mulhouse, both just over an hour away, and European capital Strasbourg within 50 minutes.
Europa-Park, Germany's biggest theme park, is within easy driving distance at 20 minutes – and after a day getting dizzy here, you might welcome the blessed peace and quiet of the Taubergiessen nature reserve. Or indeed you might be raring to go again, in which case make a foray to Funny-World (15 minutes away), which has a stack of indoor and outdoor attractions for kids, teens and adults (think trampolines, ball pools, boat rides, a splash pool, kids' gymnastics workshops… and a café where weary parents can relax with coffee and waffles…)
