  • Peaceful family site on Lake Annecy, surrounded by mountains
  • Windsurfing, paragliding, hang gliding and canyoning all nearby
  • Direct access to a public beach with waterski, kayak and pedalo rental
Ooh la la, the lakeside setting of Camping Le Lanfonnet is most magnifique. And this is not just any old lake – non, Lake Annecy is a veritable gem. The third largest in France, its clear waters are fed in by mountain streams to make up one of Europe’s cleanest lakes. Clearly, one must allow plenty of time for watery and waterside hours and hours, but there’s loads more to fill your days around here. A beach is a couple of minutes’ amble away from the site and two more lie within a 20-minute walk, for sunbathing days, canoeing, paddleboarding, scuba diving and heaps more. The site is well set up for activities too, with table tennis, table football, pétanque and a playground, as well as a TV room to retreat to for indoor times, and a bar-restaurant to fully investigate for local grub. Pick up essentials at the site grocery store in summer; at other times and for more shops, take a 20-minute stroll along the lakeside path to reach local village Talloires. A miniature golf course and tennis courts are up here too, and it’s the starting point for some great hiking and bike trails up into the hills. Restaurants and cafés are in the village and all along the lake shore for essential coffee and croissant pitstops or for a glass of vin with a view.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked We were a bit apprehensive after reading reviews on teip advisor but were pleasantly surprised. Had a spot under a big tree right by the lake. Toilets were clean. Hot water and big sinks to do laundry and dishes. Big enough pitch for the tent, car, gazebo and table and chairs and cooker. Restaurant opposite with take away services . Very peaceful. Would stay again
Only.minus was that there was no shop nearby to buy necessities as camp shop closed.

Liked Location was excellent, right on the lake. Book bikes in advance if you want one during your stay as they book up fast. We had a great stay! Very basic camp site but that’s all you need with lake annecy right outside!

Disliked The Showers nearer the lake are cold and outdated. Water simply just trickles down. Ones further up near the shop are much better.

Liked The young people on reception were great, made a good effort to speak to us when we arrived and helped us with our limited french

Disliked Campsite and facilities was pretty basic and far from any other shops etc which we obviously knew when booking.

Had a pretty poor experience when we were leaving, we wanted to get on the road at 7am so went to the desk to get my ID back and I was told it wouldn’t open till 9, at around 8 the older woman who I assume runs it appeared and was in a bit off a huff about it pointing at a sign which to be fair did say it opened at 9. I tried to say that we have 0 knowledge of this and it should have probably been told to us when we arrived so we could have collected our ID the night before. Due to this extra hour of waiting we actually missed our crossing back home.

From the manager: Hello,

We regret that your departure could not take place as planned. Unfortunately, during this Lake Annecy festival weekend and since may, we have been experiencing last-minute requests, and we are not always able to accommodate you satisfactorily.

Our team and management work shifts from 8:30 a.m./9:00 a.m., sometimes until 9:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

It is difficult to accommodate beyond this time, and it is up to each tourist to plan ahead.

We are doing our best to satisfy you.

Best regards

Liked The campsite is well laid out, direct access to the water. Reception is very well manned and the staff extremely helpful and accommodating. You can preorder croissants and Baguettes from the shop. The bus runs regularly and is easy to navigate into Annecy. The facilities whilst dated are adequate. Plenty of hot running water, which you can control the temperature too. The facilities were always clean and i never had to que. We would stay again.

Local attractions

Several hiking and cycling trails around the lake start from Talloires village – a popular route from here is the hour-long walk up to the Cascade d’Angon waterfall. To get to other walks in the area, such as those in the Bout du Lac natural reserve, take the car (20 minutes to the nature reserve) or pick up the bus or boat services running all around the lake. On the hillside above the village is the medieval Château de Menthon-Saint-Bernard, where you can take a guided tour of some of its 100 rooms; pick from a traditional guided tour or one run by costumed actors to help fire up the kids’ imaginations. It’ll take you 15 minutes or so to drive up there or just over an hour to hike up. Watersports galore make the most of the gorgeous lake waters – just next to the site are waterskiing, wakeboarding and windsurfing lessons and canoes and sailing boats for hire, and up in Talloires are a paddleboarding school and a scuba diving centre. If you’d like to combine your watery pursuits and mountain exploration, sign up for a canyoning trip from the adventure sports centre a couple of minutes’ walk from the site. Adrenaline junkies with an eye for a great view can fly over the lake on a paragliding flight from just outside Talloires; meanwhile, those of a gentler persuasion might prefer a round of golf at Lake Annecy Golf Course, 10 minutes away. The handsome old town of Annecy is half an hour's drive away.
