General

  • Peaceful family site on Lake Annecy, surrounded by mountains
  • Windsurfing, paragliding, hang gliding and canyoning all nearby
  • Direct access to a public beach with waterski, kayak and pedalo rental

Ooh la la, the setting of Camping Le Lanfonnet is most magnifique. And this is not just any old lake – non, Lake Annecy is a veritable gem. The third largest in France, its clear waters fed in by mountain streams to make up one of Europe’s cleanest lakes.

Clearly, one must allow plenty of time for watery and waterside hours and hours, but there’s loads more to fill your days around here. A beach is a couple of minutes’ amble away from the site and two more lie within a 20-minute walk, for sunbathing days, canoeing, paddleboarding, scuba diving and heaps more.

The site is well set up for activities too, with table tennis, table football, pétanque and a playground, as well as a TV room to retreat to for indoor times, and a bar-restaurant to fully investigate for local grub.

Pick up essentials at the site grocery store in summer; at other times and for more shops, take a 20-minute stroll along the lakeside path to reach local village Talloires. A miniature golf course and tennis courts are up here too, and it’s the starting point for some great hiking and bike trails up into the hills. Restaurants and cafés are in the village and all along the lake shore for essential coffee and croissant pitstops or for a glass of vin with a view.

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

Your dog must be tattooed or microchipped.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Discount cards and gift vouchers cannot be applied to bookings made via Pitchup.com.

Twin axle vehicles are not permitted on site.

Ideal campervan site, beside lake with immediate access to bike path 13/06/2019

Flat site with trees and good size pitches within 200m of the lake. Lakeside bike path that goes virtually all the way around Lake Annecy passes by the front entrance to the site. At the end of May the site is only partly open so nice and quiet and no pressure on the facilities. Relaxed café/restaurant immediately opposite the entrance. Very friendly and helpful staff.

We loved the charming ladies who ran this slightly quirky, charming site and did our washing. We loved the immaculate facilities, even though my partner found he had to overcome some British reserve! Most impressive of all was the location- a couple of minutes stroll to a spotless grassy beach and deck on Lake Annecy. We swam and breakfasted on the lakeside every morning, and swam every evening. Brilliant pizza restaurant opposite - I fell in love with Maitre'd in the straw hat, my partner went gooey over tiramisu and the pretty waitress. Fabulous lakeside walk into Talloires where we planned our retirement .....reliant on winning the Euromillions rollover, of course. Access to the mountains via amazing roads and our stay concluded with a spot of paragliding. We loved it so much we stayed an extra day.

Good site but noise from adjacent venue made it a disappointing stay 17/09/2018

Good availability, clean facilities and good position close to the lake and within easy walking/cycling distance of the pretty village of Talloire.

The cafe/restaurant just across the road (part of the campsite) is better than it looks and offers good value meals with good service.

    Disliked:

On the lakeside, immediately next to the campsite, is a building which Google Maps describes as a French restaurant. This turned out to be a party venue. We only stayed four nights, as planned, but on Friday night there was wedding party which went on quite late. On Saturday night there was a large 40th birthday party with a very loud live band which went on well into the early hours of the morning. Don't want to be a party pooper, but would have preferred it if we had been warned as there was plenty of availability on other quiet sites and, if we had known, we may have moved elsewhere.

Quiet, friendly site well situated. Lovely beach close by or if you prefer one thing quieter you can access small areas along the main road. Bar/restaurant situated directly across the road. Shower and toilet block maintained daily. The site constantly being cleaned. Shop on site.

    Disliked:

The bottle bank next door and the electric hook up was a tad sensitive so several resets required.

Great stay at this site, pitch good and level, electric hook up good, easy access to lake, camp shop had most essentials and staff very helpful. Washrooms, toilets all good and regularly cleaned.Campsite had a restaurant which we had take always from on a couple of occasions and all was good. The site is formed in several reasonable sized areas and the plots appeared to be generous throughout with no impression of over occupancy. Grass plots with lots of different species of trees and hedging. We would definitely book again, Annecy has a lot to offer.

    Disliked:

Not much to dislike but if I had a couple of criticisms they would be wifi only at reception area and the timed light switch in the washrooms as it often went off before we had finished!

The whole family really enjoyed everything about the site. There was everything we needed to have a fun and relaxing holiday. The owners/ staff were very friendly and helpfull. The shop on site had everything you would beed should you run short including the gallns of chocolate icecrem for my two boys. All in all a lovelly place to stay and we will be back.

    Disliked:

The only dislike was not really down to anything on the site but the group of people who cam on our last night who felt it was ok to ignore the "dogs to kept on leads at all times " policy. This made my youngest son very nervous as he dislikes dogs. The staff dealt with it in a timely manner which was good but these dog owners did still let the dogs off the lead to roam around when staff were not there.

Great location. Helpful staff. Busy site without much privacy. 12/08/2018

Great location, near to sights but away from main tourist area of Annecy.
Helpful staff - they let us borrow a long extension cable without charge, and swapped our pitch to a larger one without any fuss.
Great little shop on site stocking essentials. Fresh bread and pastries available each morning.
Short walk to lake and beaches.
Restaurant located across the road selling simple but tasty meals and takeaway pizza.

    Disliked:

We visited at peak time so it was always going to be busy, but the site felt quite cramped without much privacy.
The sanitary facilities were quite basic. There were not very many showers, which meant we often had to queue. They were also very cold. There were also not many toilets (other than squat toilets) so again you often had to wait, especially at peak times, e.g. morning and before bed.

Local attractions

Several hiking and cycling trails around the lake start from Talloires village – a popular route from here is the hour-long walk up to the Cascade d’Angon waterfall. To get to other walks in the area, such as those in the Bout du Lac natural reserve, take the car (20 minutes to the nature reserve) or pick up the bus or boat services running all around the lake.

On the hillside above the village is the medieval Château de Menthon-Saint-Bernard, where you can take a guided tour of some of its 100 rooms; pick from a traditional guided tour or one run by costumed actors to help fire up the kids’ imaginations. It’ll take you 15 minutes or so to drive up there or just over an hour to hike up.

Watersports galore make the most of the gorgeous lake waters – just next to the site are waterskiing, wakeboarding and windsurfing lessons and canoes and sailing boats for hire, and up in Talloires are a paddleboarding school and a scuba diving centre. If you’d like to combine your watery pursuits and mountain exploration, sign up for a canyoning trip from the adventure sports centre a couple of minutes’ walk from the site.

Adrenaline junkies with an eye for a great view can fly over the lake on a paragliding flight from just outside Talloires; meanwhile, those of a gentler persuasion might prefer a round of golf at Lake Annecy Golf Course, 10 minutes away.

The handsome old town of Annecy is half an hour's drive away.
