  • Quiet site in the natural park of the Vosges

  • Heated pool, trampoline, sports field and snack bar

Are you after le peace and quiet? Find it at Camping Les Acacias in the natural park of the Vosges and in the centre of Lorraine-Alsace.

No mammoth parties or noisy events here, just the owners' fondness for the region and its food and wine (you should very much not miss the Alsace wine tasting sessions weekly in high season), and in an exemplary location to explore the calm French countryside all around.

Les Acacias has two big camping fields, one of which is 800 metres from the amenities and set in the surrounding forest overlooking the village of Anould.

Site facilities include a heated swimming pool open from June to September, table tennis, trampoline and a sports field. A snack bar open in high season dishes up regional meals and takeaways.

Camping Les Acacias is 12km from Saint-Dié, 15km from Gérardmer and 45km from Colmar.

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 01/06 and 15/09 (subject to weather conditions).

We arrived late at the site so had to put up the tent in the almost dark and rain. The owner was expecting us and was quite helpful. The only issue was they do not take card payments, so I had to get cash the next day to settle our bill.

They are a tiny site. We were the only non-fench travellers, but they were welcoming and helpful.

The 'take-away' frites are lovely. There is a pizza man who visits once a week to make on site pizza to order.

The pool is small but perfectly sized for the site.

The site is ideally located for mountain walks, biking or nipping to Germany. We visited Friebourg for the afternoon.

If you want small, quiet, basic. This is the site for you

    Quiet natural surroundings.
    Ample pitches
Great for older kids - an outdoor fenced pool, big trampoline and table tennis, playground and safe.
Friendly owner who speaks a bit of English
In the middle of a picturesque natural park
Close to a village with a big supermarket - convenient for shopping
    Lots of cycle routes
The site is good to use as a base and if you're relaxed about the facilities
P.S. for sanitary facilities on site - remember to take your own soap, toilet roll and shower gel handy as there is none in the facilities.

    Disliked:

    - Make sure you contact the owner before arrival and ask them to check your booking through Pitchup as in our case he did not check his emails and we ended up paying EUR5.00 more than quoted at the time of booking with Pitchup
    - we found the shower did not want to get warm
    - there is a lovely retro washing machine on site so you will need to use your patience with it and be prepared to ask the owner or his son to help with it.
    - Taps are "press the button" - so filling your camper with water takes ages.

From the manager...

Hallo; Campsite Les Acacias have the classification 3 *** . It is not compulsory to take toilet roll and gel handy ( only in 4 **** and 5*****) and we are not " Hôtel " )
- Showers 39° - not sufficient?
You do not live " retro " ! ! but the washing machine is very good ; not complicated - only 2 buttons to press
On your arrival, we have not the booking. Your booking : on 11h57 le 25/08 and you arrive the 25/08 at afternoon.
You do not speak French but i speak English.
Best regards - R.CUNIN - Les Acacias

Local attractions

As it's in the Vosges region, Camping Les Acacias has a high amount of natural beauty all around and the Ballons des Vosges for climbing and exploring among varied landscapes.

In summer, hike around the forests, waterfalls and lakes of the area via the many medieval villages, restaurants, farms and vineyards; in spring, bring the binoculars out for birdwatching and look out for the return to the region of the common cuckoo.

Autumn stays should have French foraging as a highlight, and if you're in winter, skiing and snowboarding are both available: ask the Camping Les Acacias team to steer you on the right course.
