Heated indoor swimming pool

  • Six-hectare site on the outskirts of Brest, 500 metres from the coast
  • Boat trips, scuba diving and surf school within 20 minutes' drive
  • Indoor swimming pool; large heated outdoor pool during high season
Seeking city visits? Country wanders? Whatever you've got planned, this 15-acre site in Finistère makes a handy base for varied Breton breaks. You may like to start with the splendid sea vistas around Camping du Goulet, as the coast at La Maison Blanche harbour is a mere 500 metres from this site (with the nearest beach a kilometre and a half away). Meanwhile, the best of Brest is an easy 15-minute drive away – in this smashing seaside city guests can get stuck into local maritime history, or head instead to nearby beaches for scuba trips and surf lessons. Or you might just like to stick around on site, where facilities include an indoor swimming pool with a whirlpool bath, a paddling pool and a children's play area. During high season, there is also a sizeable heated outdoor pool with waterslides, a paddling pool and a balneotherapy area. Elsewhere around the site, dabble in activities or refreshments at the miniature golf course, multisports pitch, pétanque court, snack bar and bar. Kids’ club activities run on weekday mornings and evenings throughout the summer, but there's plenty for the nippers to do at other times too – perhaps spending time at the playground, leaping about on the bouncy castle or meeting the furry residents at the mini farm. Other handy amenities include a laundry room and a mini market (open through the summer with fresh bread and pastries in the morning). For a slap-up outdoor meal, set up a barbecue in the open air (having sourced supplies for your feast five minutes' drive away at a well-stocked local supermarket).

Electric grass pitch

Liked Friendly staff, clean and well kept.
Pitch was a good size and nicely sheltered, but the ground was very hard to pitch a tent!
Not really their fault though, as we were supposed to be in our motorhome, but a last minute crisis changed our plans!
Bar and cafe area is lovely, the pool was good for the kids and plenty to do.
Overall a very nice stay.

Disliked The stoney ground around the pool.
There was no WiFi for our whole stay.

Electric grass pitch

Liked We only stayed here for a couple of nights but enjoyed it. Nice pool & pool bar, indoor pool if the weather is cold & great crazy golf course & big bouncy castle & ball field. Just a short walk from the site takes you down to a stoney but nice beach nice for a tea time walk.

Disliked The floor around the poolside & steps up to the slide could be improved as it was quite rough & very hard to walk on barefoot.

From the manager: Dear Rael,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your pitch, our food service, the draught beer, the swimming pool, and our morning bakery delivery.

We also appreciate your comments regarding the children's disco and the sanitary facilities. The children's entertainment is part of the family atmosphere of our campsite during the summer season, although we understand that it may not suit everyone's preferences.

Regarding the sanitary facilities, our campsite has several toilet and shower blocks located throughout the site. During busy periods they are naturally used more frequently, but our team cleans them several times a day to maintain a high standard of cleanliness. Our facilities are mixed, which is a deliberate choice to improve accessibility and make the best use of the available space.

Thank you again for your feedback. We hope to welcome you back for another stay in the future.

Kind regards,

Laura, Camping du Goulet****

Liked Bar area
Welcome

Disliked The noise a large party of French holiday makers, partied until 12.30 am.
No night security
The SAT nav took us on the narrowest road to the site by the naval base, not suitable for large vehicles.
There is a longer route which we discovered on the way out.

From the manager: Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

We are pleased to hear that you appreciated the welcome from our team and enjoyed our bar area.

However, we are truly sorry that your night was disturbed by noise. We completely understand your disappointment, especially after such a long journey. Maintaining a peaceful atmosphere is very important to us, and we remind all our guests that quiet hours begin at 11:00 p.m.

Regarding the access to the campsite, we are aware that some satellite navigation systems direct visitors via the narrow road near the naval base, which is not suitable for larger vehicles. We are currently improving the information we provide to guests to help them follow a more suitable route.

Thank you once again for your comments. They help us continue to improve our services, and we hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back under better circumstances.

Kind regards,

Laura, Camping du Goulet****

Local attractions

Brest (15 minutes' drive) is home to a world-class maritime museum, luscious botanical gardens and Océanopolis, a larger-than-life aquarium that's home to more than 1000 species. If you fancy observing some of these critters in the wild, head to the local scuba school (five minutes) for flipper-clad jaunts. The Breton coast is a hub for all kinds of sea life, and local seals have been known to put in an occasional appearance. Further salty sporting activities can be sorted at a nearby surf school (15 minutes). Landlubbers who prefer to stay within their depth might prefer an outing to the peaceful Petit-Minou beach and lighthouse (10 minutes). Staying with that nautical theme, boat trips across to the spectacular Crozon Peninsula (15 minutes) come highly recommended. Daredevils seeking high-adrenaline family outings should head for Bertheaume Iroise Adventure (20 minutes), a craggy offshore fort with zipwires that hurtle right over the ocean below. For smaller kids, try La Récré des 3 Curés (20 minutes), a tiddler-friendly theme park with traditional fairground rides.
