Château de Lez-Eaux: Comfort pitch

General

  • Peaceful and well-maintained site in the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel
  • A few kilometres from a sandy beach
  • Waterslides, outdoor pool, fishing pond, sundeck and tennis court

For starters, just look at that sundeck. And you'll probably want to hear about the waterpark, on-site fishing and rather fabulous locale of this Lower Normandy and Bay of Mont-Saint-Michael site too: it's close to Mont Saint-Michel and its famed monastery, the sandy beaches of Manche, the coastal resort and gardens of Granville, and boat trips to the lovely little islands of Chausey… how well placed you'll be at this green and serene space.

Set on five hectares of space a few kilometres from Saint-Pair-sur-Mer, Château de Lez-Eaux welcomes families and groups to a friendly, well-appointed and relaxing site acclaimed as 'fabulous', 'great', 'excellent' and 'beautiful' among many other plaudits of praise from chuffed former guests – have a squint at the site pics to see of what they speak.

The site is family run, with stacks to do for all ages among its amiable atmosphere: if your littlies don't fancy the summer kids' club (unlikely), that fab 1,300m² waterpark will keep them royally entertained indoors and out. For a gentler pace of afternoon, kids can learn to cast off at the handsome fishing pond, or expend any extra energy at the tennis and pétanque courts, play area and games room.

Much time should of course be spent lounging around that pretty sundeck too, and/or perhaps venturing around the grounds by foot or pedal for gentle and secluded hours… A bar and restaurant are on site to keep you all fuelled up: there's takeaway with different daily specials and you can bag fresh bread and pastries along with other groceries at the site shop. Tuesday evenings in high season see a visiting market arrive to sell fresh local produce.

The surroundings are exceptional. As it had soo much recently everything was so green. I had my old faithful border terrier with me and there are lovely walks in the area. Shower block really clean and close by ( but not too close!)
Despite being a family site it was quiet and peaceful. Would definitely recommend and revisit.

Arrived on their first day of opening to find swimming pool, children’s play areas, animals, and shop/bar/cafe were all open. Staff were friendly, pleasant & helpful. Few first day issues as new staff but only to be expected. We were given a choice of pitches which were all level, well served by electricity & water.
Facilities were superb, very clean and well maintained.
Ordered fresh bread, croissant and pain au chocolat from shop for morning collection @ 08:00 🥐😋 Good selection of items in the shop. Local ‘cidre’ is delicious.
Will be booking again for September & will try the bike hire too.

Only issue was waiting over an hour for our food which we accepted due to first day opening but this needs addressing before large numbers arrive.

A wonderful place! We arrived just after August bank holiday for 2 nights. A very warm welcome on check in, nothing was to much trouble. a nice roomy pitch with water and electricity. The entire site and facilities were spotless. Super large showers with hot water.

The little shop stocked all essentials and you could order fresh bread. The pizza shop was busy and we did have to wait but the food was lovely and the best chips we have had in ages. The bar was warm and welcoming. Didn't use either of the pools so I cant comment on that. we would come again and totally recommend it. very very child and dog friendly.

Set in beautiful grounds around a Chateau, my family and I had a wonderful stay at this campsite in August.

In addition to the picturesque surroundings, the site has two pools. The indoor pool has several slides, that my 6 and 8 year old both loved. The outdoor pool is small but perfectly adequate.

All facilities were clean and kept to a high standard, and all staff were helpful and friendly.

Bar area also had an impressive terrace area right underneath the château.

Absolutely everything , the food , the bar , the staff , complex and whole site. The staff here literally go above and beyond for you. We arrived rather late just as the snack bar was closing , they kindly stayed later to cook us food as we hadn’t eaten. The quality of food is amazing!
The site location is a great base for exploring the Normandy region of France with local shops and supermarkets very close by. A very well stocked site shop and fresh bakery with hot pastry delights every morning.
The water park is one of the best I’ve been to for a holiday park which the kids enjoyed so much.
Bike hires are really well priced aswell and not forgetting the various bouncy castles that are here aswell completely free for the kids to use as they please too.
Well stocked fishing lake , clean site , very clean toilets and showers with the additional bonus of a laundrette on site.
I really cannot find fault with anything here and will definitely be back again in the future.
If you see this review a massive thankyou to all of the staff

Local attractions

Château de Lez-Eaux's setting should sort you out for whichever flavour of Normandy holiday you're after; if you seek yet more northern France adventures, it's about an hour and 15 minutes' drive to Saint-Malo and the Brittany coast too. The closest sandy beach is about four kilometres away, at the park's local town of Saint-Pair-sur-Mer.

Begin your Normandy wanderings with some time at the surrounding Mont Saint-Michel Bay or Baie du mont Saint-Michel, between Brittany and the Normandy peninsula of Cotentin, and a setting so splendid it's a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Birdwatching and seal spotting are popular picks around these waters, as is a trip to the world-famed Mont Saint-Michel island and its monastery.

Mont Saint-Michel is reachable at low tide from Granville, well worth a day or two in itself for its wide golden sandy beach, its art deco casino and, for fashionistas, the gardens and the 19th-century Villa les Rhumbs where Christian Dior and his family spent their summers.
