For starters, just look at that peaceful green space. And you'll probably want to hear about the on-site fishing and rather fabulous locale of this Lower Normandy and Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel site too: it's close to Mont Saint-Michel and its famed monastery, the sandy beaches of Manche, the coastal resort and gardens of Granville, and boat trips to the lovely little islands of Chausey… how well placed you'll be. Set on 12 acres of space a few kilometres from Saint-Pair-sur-Mer, Château de Lez-Eaux welcomes families and groups to a friendly, well-appointed and relaxing site. The site is family-run, with stacks to do for all ages among its amiable atmosphere: if your littlies don't fancy the summer kids' club, they can learn to cast off at the handsome fishing pond or expend any extra energy at the tennis and pétanque courts, play area and games room. For time by the water, the site has a heated outdoor pool (open from mid May to the beginning of September) with waterslides and a hot tub. There's also an indoor pool open from the beginning of April to the beginning of September. Much time should of course be spent lounging around the pretty sundeck, or perhaps venturing around the grounds by foot or pedal for gentle and secluded hours… A bar and restaurant are on site to keep you all fuelled up: there's a takeaway with different daily specials and you can bag fresh bread and pastries along with other groceries at the site shop. Tuesday evenings in high season see a visiting market arrive to sell fresh local produce.

Liked We loved this site and enjoyed our 4 night stay in the lovely grounds. We were welcomed with friendliness and the reception team all speak wonderful English. We used the little shop, got our bread daily, and used the bar and food area once: food freshly cooked and lovely.

Showers, washing facilities all excellent.

We also took a day trip to Ils Chausey which we would definitely recommend. A beautiful island and archipelago.

We would highly recommend the site and will return

Disliked Was given a pitch with no shade in a heat wave in France. Asked to change but told to stay for two hours and if it was still issue to come back to office. I am asthmatic and 37 is too hot for me so we left and found another site where we had shade

Liked Nice site, excellent amenities and facilities. All very clean. Friendly staff most speak English. Good for families, but very quiet out of holiday season.

Disliked Some grass pitches get very soggy when wet, we had to change pitch twice but staff very helpful ended up on a hard standing at no extra cost.

Château de Lez-Eaux's setting should sort you out for whichever flavour of Normandy holiday you're after; if you seek yet more northern France adventures, it's about an hour and 15 minutes' drive to Saint-Malo and the Brittany coast too. The closest sandy beach is about four kilometres away, at the park's local town of Saint-Pair-sur-Mer. Begin your Normandy wanderings with some time at the surrounding Mont Saint-Michel Bay or Baie du mont Saint-Michel, between Brittany and the Normandy peninsula of Cotentin, and a setting so splendid it's a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site.
