Located in the heartland of rural Wales, in the most southern point of the Snowdonia National Park, Gwerniago is a working farm run by a Welsh speaking family. The campsite is situated just outside the village of Pennal between Machynlleth and Aberdovey in the beautiful Dyfi (Dovey) Valley.
The area around the farm is ideally suited for birdwatching and walking. Some of our regular visitors are the red kites, and it is possible to see the Dyfi ospreys' nest from the campsite with a good pair of binoculars. The site is near RSPB Ynyshir, the home of the BBC Springwatch programme for the last two years.
The campsite is popular with walkers and cyclists; it offers elevated views over the Dyfi Valley, woodlands, and riverside walks, and was voted in the top five in the book Cool Camping Kids recently. Young children can enjoy a pony ride around the campsite in the evenings and help feed the young lambs during the lambing season. Relax by your own campfire in the evenings and enjoy the countryside.
The campsite is a good base from which to explore mid-Wales, not far from mountain walking at Cadair Idris, Coed y Brenin and Machynlleth cli-machx for mountain biking, and the beaches of Aberdovey and Borth.
