What customers say

This campsite offers stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere. Visitors consistently praise the clean and well-maintained facilities, including hot showers and individual toilet cubicles. The friendly and helpful owners are frequently mentioned, as are the spacious, well-laid-out pitches with picnic benches. Some minor points include a limited number of washing-up sinks and occasional noise from other campers, though the overall sentiment is highly positive, with many recommending the site and planning return visits.

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked Great view. It was nice to have a fridge and freezer available. The site seemed popular with large family groups.

Disliked The lack of specific pitches on the camping area is not ideal.
There were only 5 or 6 toilets and 3 showers on the site, and although we did not have to queue for them I could see this might be a problem. They could have been cleaner.
There were no notices suggesting that noise should be kept at a minimum after a certain time, and there were people making a fair bit of noise late at night.

Electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked Beautiful and incredibly peaceful location. Swifts flying about in and amongst the pitches. Picnic tables next to all the pitches. Rope swing and slide for the kids. Good, well maintained facilities. Never had to wait for the toilet or a shower. Firepits and wood available. Less than 10 minutes from Machynlleth for supplies. Really lovely area with lots to explore.

Disliked The site is in a valley so inevitably the pitches are on slight inclines. Had a bit of sliding down the tent when sleeping but that’s not an uncommon experience!

Local attractions

Four miles to the east is Machynlleth for the local street market on Wednesdays and getting techy at the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT); it's also home to a comedy festival in the spring. Aberystwyth is about a 40-minute drive south for shops, restaurants and nights out. If you’d rather escape the towns, explore the award-winning beaches and harbours (15 minutes' drive) for fishing and strolling. The Aberdyfi estuary’s beaches and sand dunes are some of the best kept in the country, and for those who fancy a round (of golf, that is), the area is also home to an award-winning golf course. For kitesurfers and boarders, beaches at Tywyn, Borth and Fairbourne (the furthest of which is 10 miles away) should offer some exciting sporting opportunities, with some even offering tuition. Back on dry land, the Dyfi Bike Park (10 minutes) is known as one of the best mountain bike locations in all the land. If you prefer more laidback days out, take a trip to Talyllyn’s steam railway (around eight miles away) or travel from Aberystwyth to Devil’s Bridge on the Vale of Rheidol steam railway line.
